Thank you Rep. @katieporteroc for standing with us and calling on @StanfordHealth to bargain with its resident physicians and fellows in good faith. Because no one, neither patient nor provider, should have to compromise their well-being.

While there will continue to be iterations moving forward, there’s now a few years of supportive data for preference signals. Should there still be a conversation about application caps? IMO absolutely, and the ortho (and gold/silver) data will be fascinating to dive into.
Attention #Match2024 Applicants & Advisors: Another cycle begins and more changes to Preference Signaling … Here’s what you need to know to make Signaling work for you a 🧵 #MedEd #MedStudentTwitter

Watching our peers at @MGBUnited speak up while we are in the midst of our own contract negotiations at the #StanfordHousestaffUnion. I said this last year and will say again: when this many young doctors are sounding the alarm, we have to listen and act. @cirseiu
From @WSJopinion: Increasingly, both patients and physicians are finding hospital systems to be as obstructionist as insurance and pharmaceutical companies, writes @MphStanley on.wsj.com/42xQrwN

So please speak up and get comments in! I certainly have my biases and opinions and will continue to advocate to improve the transition to residency, but this is a time to get a large, vocal response. Let's make medical training better! 8/8

How much should we value "soft" outcomes like subjective experience of residents/fellows? I stumbled across this systematic review from last year again, and instead of rehashing the argument will just quote the old thread with a shoutout to the article: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3618…
RESIDENT WORK HOURS. Common sense says extended shifts impairs sleep and likely makes resident wellbeing worse, but the typical counterargument is shorter shifts=more handoffs=possibility for patient harm. But what does the data suggest? 🧵 1/9 #medtwitter #meded #wellbeing #GME

3 women physicians in @NEJM: "We couldn’t expect to both have a healthy pregnancy and successfully complete residency with our peers." Their pregnancies were decades ago, and progress has been made, but this still rings so true.
