Inclusive India: Leaving No One Behind
The Government of India is advancing a vision of social and economic inclusion, aiming to break the cycle of poverty with dignity.
From livelihoods to health, education to financial inclusion—the focus is clear:
➡ Build resilience
➡ Ensure equity
➡ Enable self-reliance for every household
As part of this vision, Bihan- Chhattisgarh SRLM,Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, hosted the launch of Samaveshi Aajeevika Yojana (CG-SAY), a mission-driven initiative bringing together state departments, civil society organisations, and community institution to drive the initiative at scale.
This marks a significant step in translating intent into impact—governance with empathy, action with inclusion. 🇮🇳

The heatwave continues. Another 3-day warning issued. Its been almost a month - the longest on record in Bangladesh. In addition to heatstroke deaths and school closures, we're seeing highways melting, a power station on fire, over a million chickens dead - even tea plants dying.

The #GraduationApproach is now being scaled through govts in Africa & Asia to enable 4.6m households to escape extreme poverty by 2026.
Let's put resources & tools already at our disposal to work on #combatingpovertyandinequality.

Enjoyed the conversation today with @ASteiner of @UNDP and @Shameran to discuss #TheGraduationApproach and our shared goals and focus to #LNOB as we enable people to escape the poverty trap. #ReshapingDevelopment
We are thrilled to support the launch of the Immersion and Learning Exchange (ILE) program so others can benefit and learn from their experience. Congratulations to @brlps_jeevika for their commitment and efforts! #TheGraduationApproach

Great work……
#IWD2023 | Since 2018 Satat Jeevikoparjan Yojana (@SJY_JEEViKA_) has led ultra-poor #ruralwomen across Bihar on the path to sustainable self-employment & break the poverty trap
We continue to support @brlps_jeevika & @BandhanKonnagar to lift women-led households from poverty
As we recommit to the SDGs and their underlying promise to #LeaveNoOneBehind, it's important to recognize and account for the web of overlapping constraints that effectively "trap" people in poverty. Learn how governments can reach those furthest behind: bit.ly/3TeD0NX
It was great to connect with HE President Ramos Horta of #TimorLeste at #LDC5 to discuss Graduation and other economic inclusion efforts. Looking forward to continuing the conversation! @Shameran @BRACworld
I don’t fully understand this graph yet, but it won’t stop me from retweeting this critical point. Investments that meet or exceed certain thresholds have sustained returns smaller incremental investments often do not
A trap view of poverty means social protection is an investment not recurrent expenditure. The more we invest in enhancing productive capacity of the poorest through carefully designed big push, the more we can manage to protect against other shocks.

This is a fantastic example of south to south, moving... inspiring....
A rare positive story out of the horrors of Afghanistan - and a powerful example of Rwandan hospitality. African nations continue to bear an immense burden of refugees from neighbouring countries and from further afield. @RestIsPolitics
Thank you JEEVika team led by @rahulias6 for the visit last month @Shameran @BRACworld
How can Governments scale with quality? Colleague Bobby Irven reflects on what he saw in Bihar bracupgi.org/news-updates/ec…
It’s much more than cash or asset transfers which generates ROI
Research from @WorldBank and @poverty_action in Niger found that psychosocial support in the form of coaching & community engagement to be key to Graduation's cost-effectiveness & program impact.
New research builds on this ⤵️
Looking ahead this year, our twin challenge is to scale #TheGraduationApproach at a size that is meaningful on a global scale, while delivering long-term impact. We want to “scale beautifully.” (1/3)
I was recently in Bihar, India to learn from one of the biggest Graduation programs and foremost examples of scale. The program converges many existing services from the state and incremental financing is generated out of the state’s budget. (2/3)
We look forward to engaging in more conversations at the global level to eradicate #extremepoverty. I look forward to engaging and collaborating with many of you as we invest and persist to bring about meaningful change. bit.ly/40nRoXe (3/3)
