🚨NEW: SEC Commissioner @MarkUyedaUS says the agency dropped several crypto cases inherited from the prior administration because continuing to defend legal interpretations it was preparing to reverse would have “hurt the SEC’s credibility.”
“I’m not about to have our litigators…stand up in court” as the commission prepares to make a “180-degree change” in its interpretation, he said.
Uyeda also called the SEC’s Innovation Exemption for tokenized securities a “pilot” that could create “a lot of potential opportunities” for new entrants and traditional financial firms.

“The amount of money the crypto industry spent on lobbying firms for such a staggering defeat would have been better spent curing cancer,” one lobbyist told @semafor after the vote.

We believe in digital-first policies, particularly the need for the SEC to transition the default method for sending regulatory documents to digital. Thrilled to see legislation that acknowledges there is a more secure & efficient way to communicate. thinkadvisor.com/2022/12/16/…
