New post: Some Interesting Ideas for 2026/2027
In the writeup:
- A data provider with sticky customers, difficult-to-replicate assets, and a compelling setup for its next chapter
- A small, growing provider of essential services with durable demand and room to build a much larger business through acquisitions
- A marketing services compounder trading at a mid-teens free cash flow yield, repurchasing shares, and facing very low expectations

New post: A Small-Cap Energy Compounder
poundtherockinvesting.substa…
Working on an interesting idea: an oil and gas business that can double production and generate cumulative cash flow approaching 2.5x its current market cap within five years, and fund that growth internally.
Oh, and all of this can take place at roughly $70 oil.
Bonus: the business recently completed a transformative acquisition and the company’s Executive Chairman and majority shareholder is someone I consider the best manager and capital allocator in all of energy.
The Greystone Capital Q2 2026 letter is now available on the site. I spend some time talking about $PBI, $NRP, $KITS and $FOUR, while discussing the source of some of our best investment ideas since inception.

On Friday, I’ll be sharing research and a lengthy writeup on one of Greystone’s core positions and highest-conviction ideas. We’ve been building the position over time in what we believe is a high-quality, volume-driven toll booth led by strong management and still early in a multi-year compounding story.
New post: an interesting microcap in maritime connectivity undergoing a business transformation where free cash flow will inflect in a big way in the next 12-18 months. Recurring revenue, leaner cost structure, nice operating leverage, and half the market cap in cash.

After seven years of sharing my writing publicly, the time is right to put a portion of the blog behind a paywall.
I’ve set the annual subscription price at $19.99/month or $239/annually. I priced the subscription below all the lengthy, deep-dive Substacks, as well as below the Substacks that post multiple ideas per month.

This was a lot of fun. @IrrationalMrkts is the man!
Here, they talk about the powers of incremental improvement, what he learned as an NBA scout about finding hidden value, why making the investing process more labour intensive has led to outperformance, and a whole lot more!

Investing motto I'm using for the 2020's decade:
(1) International over Domestic
(2) Value over Growth
(3) Small over Large
Charts below are P/E & CAPE (absolute, normalized to avg, relative) for INTL DM (EAFE) Small-Mid Cap Value and US Large Cap w/ Value removed. Very cheap!
