That's the same thing we're saying; one thing (systemhood) can have multiple causes (trauma and not trauma) while still being different experiences.

But ego states can be distinct from each other outside of structural dissociation (again Haunted Self) and is considered multiplicity in some contexts, which can come with being a system if the term is correct for the one using it (collection of parts).

-how 'division of personality' (identity states/alters) occur outside of structural dissociation and trauma, they're just not relevant to structural dissociation, as they're not the same as what's found in structural dissociation (but can appear similar).

This is explained in structural dissociation by "action systems", which exist for both those who experience structural dissociation, and those who don't. (Ref. The Haunted Self.) This is further explained by Onno van der Hart and Ellert Nijenhuis when they discuss-

"System" stems from 'personality system', used for multiple parts that come together to make one whole thing. (Internal Family Systems, Systems 1 and 2, Thinking, Dynamic Systems Theory, Cognitive-Affective Personality System, Identity System, etc.)

Dissociation can occur without trauma. It's a natural human experience, and can result in non-CDD multiplicity without structural dissociation, per The Haunted Self. Imaginary friends have an actual clinical definition - they're not the experience of most endogenic systems :)

A CDD is a mental disorder with a multitude of symptoms. A system is multiple parts. It's important to understand, they aren't the same thing repository.mmu.ac.uk/article… researchgate.net/publication… pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3769… pubs.sciepub.com/rpbs/5/2/1/… philarchive.org/archive/BURP…

Traumagenic DID system here o/ Alternatively, they're not saying what you're claiming! Endogenic systems aren't saying you can have a CDD without complex trauma/Structural dissociation. They're saying they're a system, plural, something medically verified across multiple studies.

The ICD explains the amnesia in DID better than the DSM imo, and uses OSDD differently (there's no 1b in the DSM or ICD! Just OSDD-1 for any DID-like presentation) icd.who.int/dev11/l-m/en#/ht…

No😄 The DSM criteria even specifically includes self-reporting of symptoms!
