Turkey is the next country with possible candidate to put their hat into a ring for the UN Secretary Generalship. Depends on how UAE's late entrant @Lana_Nusseibeh fares in the imminent ballot of security council members, the first test of whether her chances have been damaged by her response to evidence of UAE support for the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. In Commons on Tuesday a UK minister @kirstyjmcneill strongly supported the work of the UN Panel of Experts report on Sudan that has been critical of UAE. But would UK veto her?
Exclusive: Turkey set to announce its candidate for UN Secretary-General within days: Feridun Sinirlioglu, a veteran diplomat.
Thursday is key: Ankara’s final call will hinge on how the Security Council’s straw poll leans. An announcement is expected Friday evening. turkiyetoday.com/nation/excl…

Oct 28 (Reuters) - Qatari mediators presented Iran with a new draft deal on Sunday to end the US-Israeli war on the country, which Tehran is considering and expected to send a response to by the end of the week, an official briefed on the negotiations said on Wednesday.
There were concerns ahead of Sunday's meeting in Tehran that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu could resume attacks on the Islamic Republic this week, the official added.

Israel's Gadi Eisenkot on Iran:
Making regime change an objective of war is not the right thing to do.
Destroying the Iranian nuclear program, the missile program, and the proxies — that is the right thing to do.
And I know how to do that.

BREAKING: Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan are rushing their top security officials to Tehran for a last-ditch diplomatic push, with Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin set to meet Iranian officials over the Houthi crisis, Iran’s threats and the looming U.S. strike, per Reuters and Iranian state media.
The emergency visit follows Iran’s offer to broker peace between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis, potentially opening a path to end the fighting. A Saudi C-130 reportedly carrying the Saudi defense delegation has landed in Tehran, while a Saudi government-linked Airbus A320-214 also touched down at Mehrabad Airport shortly afterward before departing. Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir is also en route to Tehran.
The timing is critical: Trump has warned that a U.S. attack on Iran could come “as soon as tomorrow,” while Tehran threatens massive retaliation against energy infrastructure and warns it could cut undersea cables.

#Iran FM Araghchi: All regional issues are intertwined. There cannot be war in one corner of the region while expecting peace in another. In all talks with the US mediated by Pakistan, Qatar, and others, we stressed war must end on all fronts, or we won't see regional stability.
#Iran FM Araghchi: There is talk of renewed war these days. War or not, our policies remain in place... Management of the Strait of Hormuz will not be as before... We are trying to reach a mutual understanding with Persian Gulf states on a new regional security structure.
