A reminder for us how precious every food is that comes to us after several phases from being planted to being harvested!
Let's be grateful to all the natural resources & people who are making it possible & reduce #FoodLoss by becoming more conscious.

When food is lost or wasted, the resources used to produce it go to waste too.
For #FLWDay, @FAO Champion @BorgheseAle takes us into the forest to explore the foods it provides and why we should make the most of every ingredient.
#StopFoodLossWaste
Have you ever wondered why #RegenerativeAgriculture is an effective way to restore our degraded lands and grow food for generations to come? If we care about our health, healthy soil should be a priority for us too 🌿

Grassland carbon storage is shaped by a complex web of life.
A study in Global Change Biology found that livestock do not fully substitute the ecological role of native herbivores in supporting soil carbon stock. The difference is linked partly to changes in microbial decomposers, which influence how carbon is processed and retained.
This points to an important lesson: soil carbon is not only about plants. It is also shaped by animals, microbes, and the way land is managed.

Pesticides are like drugs that do much more harm in the long term and are difficult to get rid of. Fortunately, there are solutions that have proved effective, and one of them is known as #TreeBasedAgriculture 🌿

Many cities are beginning to rethink the ground beneath them.
Depaving removes asphalt and concrete so that soil can absorb rainwater, support vegetation, reduce heat, and help restore biodiversity in urban spaces.
From Genoa to Paris, Copenhagen, New York, and São Paulo, cities are finding ways to replace sealed surfaces with green infrastructure. This is not just beautification. It is a practical response to flooding, heat, and the long-term need for more resilient cities.

When autumn knocks on the door, the leaves fall to the ground while the trees get ready for the cold winter days. It's a golden time for the #Soil, as it receives the organic content it needs through the fallen leaves that keep it alive.

An EU-funded project in Sardinia compared conventional plowing, reduced tillage, and sowing directly into undisturbed soil.
The result? Less-disturbed methods matched conventional yields while supporting greater soil carbon, healthier microbial life, and savings in labour and fuel.
Healthy soil is good for both the planet and the farmers.🌍🌾

#OrganicFarming should become the priority worldwide. If we want to stay healthy, our Soil needs to be healthy as well.
It's time for us to live consciously as human beings, or else we'll have to face the consequences.

A whole grazing world exists beneath the ground.
Soil animals such as nematodes, mites, springtails, earthworms, and millipedes feed, move, and reshape the underground environment. They interact with bacteria and fungal networks, redistribute organic matter, create pores, and influence how carbon moves through the soil food web.
Researchers are now studying how these overlooked organisms affect long-term carbon storage. The more we understand life beneath the surface, the better we can understand soil health.

That's huge! #IshaOutreach is making waves that spread wellbeing across #Bharat and beyond. I'm very happy for the farmers and the success behind FPOs, because no one is left behind, and everyone including our Nature, benefits!
#SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet #NaturalFarming
85% of Indian farmers own less than 2 hectares of land.
The result? Weak market power, losses, and debt traps.
The only way forward?
FPOs — farmer collectives with enhanced market power.
For the fourth consecutive year, Isha Outreach-supported FPOs have been awarded the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) FPO Excellence Awards in New Delhi. Three FPOs, which competed against hundreds of FPOs across the nation, were awarded in market linkage (Thencherimalai FPO and Senniandavar FPO) and technology (Ponnad FPO).
Ponnad FPO – All India Winner, Technology & Sustainability
Senniandavar FPO – Market Linkage
Thencherimalai FPO – All India Winner, Market Linkage
Isha Outreach, which supports more than 17,000 farmers across two states, has enabled these Farmer Producer Organizations to achieve a cumulative business turnover of INR 400 crore.

When you see a bee, what do you think of? 🐝🐝
Sting?
Insect?
Buzzing?
Honey?
But do you think of food?
Here are 6⃣ reasons to BEE grateful for our bees & pollinators and tips on how you can show it.

Water scarcity is not only a climate issue. It is also a land-use issue.
A Nature Water study found that changing crop combinations in major U.S. river basins could reduce irrigation water demand while still considering farm income. In water-stressed areas, shifting away from highly water-intensive crops and using fallowing in suitable contexts may offer significant savings.
Smarter crop choices can help protect freshwater systems and make agriculture more resilient.

We need to treat the soil as gently as possible, while the farmers are the ones on the front line. May the work of farmers be recognized and cherished worldwide 🙏

Congratulations to our Farmer Producer Organizations Thencharimalai, Senniandavar and Ponnad, adjudged among the best at the Confederation of Indian Industry FPO Excellence Awards. Your outstanding performance and this recognition by Indian Industry are most significant in encouraging the formation of more FPOs across Bharat. To enrich our Soil, ensure water security & to significantly enhance farmer economy, this is the way forward. Bharat’s progress & prosperity is directly linked to the progress & prosperity of our farming community. Best wishes & Blessings to the FPO teams and Isha volunteers involved in this success. -Sg
Good news from the field of #biodiversity 🌱
Let's be truly human and take care of our only home and its inhabitants. We shouldn't be the cause of their suffering!
#SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet #NatureBeauty
Crazy, isn't it?
Some overeat, some go hungry to bed. Big changes are needed, so that at least children don't suffer due to starvation. Let's do our best to turn this world into a better place 🙏

What do 1.4 billion hectares look like? Nearly 2 billion football fields.
That's the total area used to grow food that's never eaten!
Each one of us must act now to cut #FoodLoss and #FoodWaste.
#FLWDay #COFO28
This is happening not only in #Bharat but all over the world. We should always keep in mind that soil health is linked to human health! The more organic content, the healthier the soil which leads to healthier humans. A #SoilProtectionLaw is the need of the hour!

Soil biodiversity is not only important for ecosystems. It can also open doors for science.
Researchers studying soil-dwelling myxobacteria identified new taxonomic diversity and five new classes of bioactive compounds. Some of these compounds showed antifungal, antiviral, or antibacterial activity.
The finding highlights why microbial diversity matters. The living world beneath the surface may hold compounds and functions that are still unknown.

Tropical forests cannot be understood with one global rule.
A large satellite-based study found that forests across the Amazon, Africa, and Southeast Asia respond differently to heat, drought, soil conditions, and terrain. Even when climate shifts appear similar, carbon storage can change differently from one region to another.
This matters for climate models and forest protection. Accurate carbon predictions need local data, regional expertise, and long-term monitoring.
