Yes, you need a mechanically sound swing.
But more importantly, you need a bulletproof, battle-tested swing with a plan!!
Your training should line up with the adjustments that need to be made.
-> What are your misses in games?
-> What do you struggle with?
-> Attack those weak areas. Challenge them every day.
Challenge it.
Find the weak points.
Find where the misses come from.
Attack it every single day.
That's where you become the best version of yourself, and the best hitter you can possibly be.
Players -> check yourself. Check your coaches.

Is your training preparing you for the game? Or are you just training to feel good in the cage?
Your training should challenge you every single day. Find your miss. Attack it. Be willing to fail in the cage.
If you're never truly challenged before you get in the box… you're in trouble.
Players, check yourself. Check your coaches. Make sure you're being challenged, not just swinging.

Five things. That's it.
Everything I train comes back to these. We work all five into YOUR swing, built around your needs and custom fit to you. 🧵
4. CONTROL
Control your weight to control your wait.
Are you all over the place? Flying open? Falling forward? Can you control your forward move while you wait for the ball?
5. PATH
Are you in the zone on time? And how long are you in it?

When someone fails to make decent progress towards their learning or fitness goals and cites lack of time as the issue, they're often wrong.
It's often not lack of time but rather lack of willingness to put forth a full-assed effort under a continually increasing level of challenge.
If you put in a half-assed effort then you get a quarter of the results at most. That's what causes the purported lack of time.
To get the equivalent of 30 min full-assed, you have to put in at least 2h half-assed, which you quite reasonably might not have time for.
Or you put in 30 min half-assed and get the equivalent of 7.5 min full-assed, which doesn't move the needle fast enough on your progress for you to reach your goal in a reasonable timeframe.
The magic you're looking for is in the full-assed effort you're avoiding.

Mindset of a Hitter: At a certain point, you got to make that switch mentally in your mind: I'm not going to lose a f**king pitch today.
I don't care who's on the mound.
I don't care what happened yesterday.
We can talk till we're blue in the face about mechanics, swing path, mindset, vertical barrel, setup, and all these different things.
You have to mentally make a CHOICE
I'm not losing a pitch.
I'm going to war with the mechanics I got.
I'm good enough because I write it down, because I believe it.
I got enough to win right now, and that's all I need.
At a certain point, I just go up in there and I compete.
A competitive, gritty mindset that refuses to lose a pitch, even when you know you don't feel your best mechanically and something's off: you just refuse to be late all day and just see what happens.
If you continue to go up there and, "Oh, I don't know, I'm feeling for it, man," feelings will get you killed.
Feelings will get you killed. You got to make a choice: I'm not losing a pitch today, and if I do lose one, f**k it, I'm not losing the next one.
Over and over and over and over again.
This is a mindset that you make before you get to the field.
Every single day, you have to make a choice to kill the mediocre, passive version of you.
I know there's a combination of "I'm enough, I got what it takes," yes, self-compassion, gratitude, absolutely.
I am so thankful for this day.
Now let's go kill whatever I got in front of me.
That's what it takes.

The best hitters I’ve trained ⬇️
Don’t waste energy on things they can’t control.
Controllables:
- Your plan before you step in
- Your routine between pitches
- Your swing decisions
- Your body language
How you compete after a bad one
Uncontrollables:
- The ump’s zone
- What the pitcher throws
- Where the ball goes once it leaves the bat
- Who’s in the stands
We’re human. You’re still going to catch yourself stuck on the second pile sometimes. My best guys do too.
They just get out of it faster and spend less time there every season.
(Results still matter. You just can’t train and focus on them directly.)
Stack enough at-bats where you win the CONTROLLABLES and the UNCONTROLLABLES start going your way.
Send this to a hitter who needs to learn this.

Hitters are struggling because of the coaching not just because the pitching. Pitchers have gotten incredibly good while increasing velocity, improving shapes, & tunneling.
While coaching of hitters refuses to adapt & accept.
You can’t just go full data driven or old school.

Hitters. Make sure the coach you're following and taking info from is a hitting coach, not an exit velocity coach.
There are a couple out there.
*I know one openly admits it privately but won’t come out and say it publicly*
When you're an exit velocity coach, that's your only goal.
And sometimes it really is needed to raise a hitter's potential.
But when it's the only goal, you forget there's a give and take to everything.
Reckless.
Make sure it doesn't hinder your ability to hit both sides of the plate, both sides of the field, and multiple speeds. (Not just one pitch, one speed.)
THAT IS THE MAIN GOAL.
To get hits, score runs, and win games.
