Working together to promote human rights and equitable treatment is essential to building communities where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
On 20–21 October, in partnership with the @EUinRW through the My Voice, My Rights project, we sensitised local leaders and law enforcement officials in @Muhangadis on human rights and the equitable treatment of vulnerable groups, with a focus on gender and Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC).
Through dialogue and shared learning, participants explored ways to strengthen collaboration and prevent rights violations, fostering more inclusive communities.

Pleased to welcome a delegation from @EquityGroupPLC Foundation to our offices for a discussion on areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration.
Our exchange explored how our respective work in health, rights and financial inclusion could complement one another to expand opportunities for women and young people.
We also introduced the team to our Annual Adolescent SRHR Conference, a platform that drives dialogue and action on issues affecting young people’s health and rights and discussed its role in shaping solutions and advancing adolescent SRHR in #Rwanda.
We look forward to continuing the conversation.

In continued recognition of World Mental Health Day;
Earlier today, @MDFC_Rwanda joined @dreamvillage6, @HDIRwanda and @SwedeninRW in Kamonyi District in a community mental health awareness campaign aimed at improving understanding of mental health, challenging stigma and misconceptions, and encouraging community members to prioritize their mental well-being and support those experiencing mental health challenges.
Through mental health awareness sessions, screenings and referrals, community members learned more about their mental well-being and where to seek support. Interactive quizzes and lively performances made the event even more engaging, encouraging learning, participation and open conversations about mental health.
We are promoting early access to mental health services and ensuring that community members know where to find the support they need.

“Women’s experiences do not become less important with age; every woman deserves to be heard at every stage of life.”
Today, @doctors_women began a two-day training for data collectors under the Beyond the Pause (BTP) Initiative, which aims to address sexual and gender-based violence affecting menopausal women in Rwanda.
The first day focused on menopause, study methodology, participant screening, and ethical data collection, with a strong emphasis on privacy, confidentiality, and participant safety.
As we prepare for data collection, we are equipping our data collectors to listen with empathy, uphold research ethics, and ensure that women’s experiences are documented with dignity and respect.
Let’s break the silence around menopause and make sure no woman’s voice is overlooked.

Bridging gaps in healthcare requires collaboration, clear guidance and community involvement.
Today, through the Tubiteho Project, we brought together healthcare providers, local leaders, community-based organisations (CBOs) and peer educators in @KicukiroDistr to disseminate harm reduction guidelines and share evidence to strengthen support for people who use drugs.
The engagement focused on strengthening understanding of harm reduction, improving coordination between communities and health facilities, and promoting access to respectful, non-discriminatory health services.

When people who use drugs face stigma instead of care, critical gaps in healthcare remain unaddressed. Harm reduction offers a practical path to closing those gaps through prevention, treatment, community support and services that respect people’s dignity.
Rwanda’s response should go beyond drug use to ensure no one is left behind in accessing healthcare.

Good Morning...
A little health reminder for today…
Think about it. You take a car/moto to work, eat lunch at your desk, spend hours in meetings, and before you know it, you've spent almost the entire day sitting!
But did you know that too much sitting and too little movement can increase your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, weight gain and muscle stiffness.
So, what little changes can you make today?
✅Walk to your colleague’s desk instead of calling/texting.
✅Walk to get your lunch instead of ordering in.
✅Walk for at least 10 minutes before stopping a moto.
✅Take the stairs instead of the lift.
Every little move counts! Stand up, stretch, take a short walk. Your body will thank you.

Reproductive justice requires more than commitments. It demands action, accountability, and stronger health systems.
Yesterday in @KarongiDistr , @doctors_women joined @MDFC_Rwanda , @HDIRwanda,@SwedeninRW , and other partners to celebrate International Safe Abortion Day (ISAD) 2026.
Through community dialogue and an interactive role-play on Rwanda’s legal framework for safe abortion services, participants learned about available services, challenged misconceptions, and gained a clearer understanding of where to seek appropriate care.
Empowering communities with accurate information is essential to reducing stigma and advancing access to respectful, confidential, and comprehensive abortion care.
