NSL convict Ma Chun-man is believed to be the first man hit by the newly enacted #Article23 as his earliest discharge day came 48 hours after the new law came in force.
Losing the 1/3 remission means 20 more months in jail for Ma.

1/3: #HongKong ‘s last pro-democracy parties have slammed the draft for additional national security legislation. With neither political nor civil opposition, authorities finally have a carte blanche to pass this bill (under #Article23 of the Basic Law).
s.nikkei.com/3T0suKH
2/3: The political situation has stifled potential local criticism to the bill; the consultation process saw a rate of 98.64% “positive feedback.” Note that the last attempt to pass this law (in 2003) was scrapped, due to major counterprotests.
Such protests are now impossible.
3/3: Unsurprisingly, most citizens refused to comment on the upcoming legislation, or declared support during a @bbcchinese interview.
Criticism towards this law could result in criminal prosecution.

A deaf dance performance in #HongKong was cancelled in Feburary, as Jason Wong—the show producer—taught how to sing “Glory to Hong Kong” via sign language in a music video, and served as a press conference interpreter in the 2019 #AntiExtradition Movement.

He said as a deaf person, he had a difficult time at university, yet discovering his passion in dancing helped him through. He neither regretted setting up his dance group nor his interpretation work for the pro-democracy programme. He encouraged HKers to ‘persevere.’
1/3: It has been a while, everyone.
A lot has changed in Hong Kong since we first emerged three years ago. Democratic voices continue to be snuffed, with countless arrests and targeted political actions.
We needed time away to reflect on what we could do to make a difference.
2/3: Our situation has never been easy. We have no assets, and our team has always been run by a few non-paid volunteers.
We have always been faced with a dilemma: should we stand down in the battle against authoritarianism, knowing our limited resources and manpower?
It is no secret that #HongKong has copied Beijing’s approach for domestic policy. TVB has joined the mainland in ceasing BBC broadcasts. This follows similar move by RTHK performed in 2021, which was done in solidarity with the mainland.

Constricted by the effects of national security law, the pro-democratic Civic Party has sputtered out its last breath. The party’s chairman noted that no one could come up with anything they could meaningfully do to keep the party running.

Perhaps they should have held the Rugby 7s in the Four Seasons, where amber codes were no problem and no masks were required for the @hkmagovhk bankers' jamboree. But at an outdoor event, the virus is much more dangerous. And remember, this chap tested negative in the last 48h.

Oh no…a poor tourist from South Africa came to HK yesterday for the first time just to watch #Rugby7s with his friends, but he wasn’t aware about the 0+3 measures at all.

The “conspiracy” among the Stand News editors alleged by HK prosecutors is that they agreed to publish articles on hot issues and important news that came up. I think it’s called: Running a newsroom.
