In December 1814, British and American diplomats signed the Treaty of Ghent and shook hands.
There was no one at the table to represent the Indigenous nations.
They lost more from that treaty than anyone in the room. 👇

What a hateful thing to say.
The best person for the job should get the job. Period.
Today we tabled legislation that would ensure hiring and promotion decisions in the public sector are based on merit, not DEI policies. Mandatory workplace training will be relevant to the roles and responsibilities of the employee, instead of mandatory DEI sessions.
Every Albertan deserves a fair shot, and fairness means everyone competes on the same terms.

As British Columbia gets ready to welcome a new government led by the BC Conservatives, interim leader and B.C. premier-elect Lorne Doerkson reaffirms that repealing the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) will be a top priority. vancouver.citynews.ca/2026/1…
Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

If Indigenous leaders what to end the Indian act then it becomes a negotiation and everything is on the table.'

The trick will be preventing the government from giving more money and rights to the Indigenous.

Good idea. Let's all just be Canadians.
No special rights for anyone.

Yes, it should be abolished and all Canadians should be treated equally.
Abolish the Indian Act. We have nothing to lose but our chains.
We will, of course, need new legislation that is an interface between the Federal government and First Nations. And this MUST be created alongside Chiefs and First Nation governments every step of the way. But it is time to move past the era of this outdated, racist, and patriarchal legislation.
I support Prime Minister Carney’s work to position Canada as a global leader in human rights and democracy. The Indian Act is inconsistent with achieving that vision.
Our laws at home should reflect the values we champion around the world.
It’s time for a relationship with First Nations people that reflects who we are as Canadians today, recognizes nationhood, and lives up to the true nature of reconciliation.
Blocked me. lol.
I wouldn't want to trigger him (her? Ver?) so I'll use the Trudeau approved term.

Time to focus on the economy.

Alignment between Ottawa's energy agenda and Victoria on pipelines could unlock real investment for BC. Cooperation, not conflict, is what moves projects forward.
