Guess what! there's a lot more new gas plants being planned in the US than there were (checks notes) a month ago
Halcyon's Gas Power Plant Tracker now covers 505 planned US gas plants (~286 GW) after adding 38 new plants this month.
New this month: Dominion's 2,511 MW Mt. Storm, Crusoe's 1,398 MW behind-the-meter Duroc Project in Abilene, and the tracker's first CPCN denial: Duke's $584M Sherwood H. Smith Jr. Energy Complex (Richmond County, NC), for failing SB 266's least-cost test amid stranded-cost concerns.

Air permits. Sometimes you learn about new data centers, critical manufacturing, pipeline compressor stations...
...and sometimes, you learn about new pet adoption center "Animal Carcass Incinerators"

Nooooooo, every state PUC/PSC plus the significant environmental permitting state agencies, we have assets months before they appear in 860m.

One of my favorite Italo Calvino stories is “tutto in un punto” an everything in one infinitely compressed mathematical point. Something I try for informationally. Here’s the latest.

There's a lot going on in this one project: a pipeline approval, a state permit, and now a report on scandium shortages. A one-screen snapshot of the Oracle and Bloom Project Jupiter data center in New Mexico, via @halcyon

Seeing more behind-the-meter / prime power revisions in TX. This one: Atlas Energy Solutions in Socorro, upping its generation capacity from 20MW to 100MW of delivered power from 30 gas-fired engine generators, for "industrial loads located adjacent to the site". via @Halcyon

Some of the most exciting businesses work boring boring problems. Halcyon built an AI layer over annoying databases and poorly structured filings making information searchable & useful. Proud to be an advisor - though I benefit a lot more from Bruce's advice than vice versa
Two years ago we started building @Halcyon because we believed that modern AI could fundamentally change how the energy industry accesses and uses information ⚡️

A once in a generation energy buildout is underway. The teams winning it will have better information than everyone else.
That is what @HalcyonAI is building. Congrats to @Halcyon on closing a $21M Series A led by @EnergizeCapital!

My friend @NatBullard wrote a great piece here.
Five hyperscalers are on track to spend $700B+ in 2026, up $300B from last year. That’s before counting partners, utilities, fiber, and supporting infrastructure.
As a share of GDP, it might be the largest single-year capital commitment in U.S. history outside the Louisiana Purchase!
The closest historical analogs include learnings.
Like shale E&P that were short-lived assets and forced efficiency gains over time.
Like Apollo, the hardware depreciates fast but the learnings can compound broadly, and the durable infrastructure (data centers, power contracts) will outlast the compute (GPUs) inside it.
And like the Louisiana Purchase, the full value may only become clear when technologies and use cases that don’t yet exist arrive to fill the space being created.
