“continue the work of long-term transformation” sounds like more of the same with @uklabour supporting austerity 2.0 in Brum & the destruction of public services. Time to change track, as we have long argued. Will the new lead Commissioner listen? @BrumLabour wake up!

Big thank you @James4Harborne for seeing off Gove’s Max 🪓 Caller. Caller & @BhamCityCouncil ‘won’ in court yday on a narrow technicality but James won the public argument regarding local democracy, forcing Caller into the spotlight. Well done. @martinibrooks @JaneRockHouse

Very telling that one of Caller’s last acts as Commissioner at @BhamCityCouncil was in court defending his over-riding of the Council’s scrutiny process regarding Day Centre closures. He leaves our city in a worse state of governance than he found it.

Significant court case today challenging the power of Government Commissioners to override the democratic scrutiny processes of @BhamCityCouncil

A significant element of this story is about nepotism, cronyism and corruption, with friends, family and employees of @UKLabour MPs being parachuted into @BrumLabour held seats, while incumbents are arbitrarily removed without right to appeal. @skwawkbox

The strength of @UKLabour in the past was that it genuinely was a ‘broad church.’ Sadly it’s become a party without values and principles. Birmingham deserves better than @BrumLabour apparatchiks and lickspittles.

Sadly @TahirAliMP , my MP, voted yes for the cuts. I hope those who are disabled, and their families and friends who live in the Constituency remember that at the next election.

Shambles is an understatement. It’s an absolute shit show. Got a missing councillor, 4 adult day care centres closing, 3 adult care homes under threat, libraries closing/reduced openings, SEND transport being cut, care packages being reviewed and reduced. Where does it end?

It is little wonder that workers in #Birmingham are now turning away from @UKLabour.
🗳️ These polling results are absolutely woeful - residents are not only disgusted by the way bin workers are being treated, but also how @BhamCityCouncil is being run.

…. and @UKLabour / @WMLabour needs to accept responsibility. They imposed @CllrJohnCotton on @BrumLabour and ultimately on @BhamCityCouncil, despite them knowing that he was one of the team that brought the city to its knees.
The shambles at @BhamCityCouncil is the result of one bad decision after another.
It should not be up to hardworking bin workers to pay for that.
@unitetheunion will not stand by and let workers be treated in this way. #Birmingham
