Some horrific experiences of teenagers in dire unsuitable accommodation with little or no support. I’ll be asking the Minister to look closely at this and to consider what action he can take to ensure that no children are put at risk in this way.
Later this morning @annelongfield will be speaking to 5Live about this investigation.

This has to be a starting point for any historian, and needs careful thought as historians often propagate myths about simple links between past, present and future, as Klaus Neumann highlights #historypolicy

One of the key messages coming from lots of talks is the need for historians to be able to provide a complex but understandable explanation of what history offers when talking to policy makers. Not 'lessons' from the past. #historypolicy

And finally @jenny_crane on activism and the NHS - the role of the patients and public. Learning about people power as a weapon for change (or stopping change) - where public engagement meets policy engagement #historypolicy

Now on to @SallyBSheard on the planning and strategy around the NHS. The continual failure to learn again - even when there is an attempt to think historically. Professional historians are crucial - a witness seminar as key methodology #historypolicy

First, @RobertaBivins on migration and health. So much well documented recent history - which is totally ignored. Providing familiar case studies can help public health workers think through the current situation #historypolicy

A crucial question for historians is how history can and should intervene in debates about child poverty, which is at shocking levels, as outlined by Simon Szreter and shown in Pat Thane's recent policy paper -historyandpolicy.org/policy-… #historypolicy nitter.gq/HistoryPolicy/status/1…

I'm talking about street protests - funerals for the NHS, chasing Ministers (political not theological) while dressed as an owl, and more! Potentially, I think, working with activists to learn about these protests tells us how politics is negotiated and meaningful in daily life.
Today! @RobertaBivins and @jenny_crane from our team are joining @HistoryPolicy to explore how history informs public policy debate in different countries. . .
