and it's gone.
In light of recent ao3 related events, I have stumbled upon a website that I think authors need to be made aware of.  The website ao3 [DOT] life has been scraping and downloading fics published to ao3 for who knows how long. 🧵

More information on what can be done about the ao3 dot life situation! Seriously can we catch a break though…

if you have already emailed pls pls change your email password and do not have any more contact with this site!!
My little tech/bank security background is screaming *not* to follow the procedure mentioned. AO3 doesn’t publicize your email, therefore this site shouldn’t know which email is linked to your account. Highly possible this is a scam to hack AO3 accounts while they’re down!

writer friends, i know you might want to contact the site owners to take down your fics but please be wary. they’re not affiliated with ao3/otw at all & have no way to actually verify your email to remove your work from their site; they could be using it to gather your email info
can't find the tweet now but guys pls don't contact those ao3.life guys with the email of your ao3 account. they are not affiliated with ao3 so they have no businees knowing what email is even attached to your accounts. it makes no sense

This site is hosted by Namecheap, and you can contact their domain host with complaints at [email protected] Every single work that has been reposted to this site without the express permission of the original fanfic authors is a violation of copyright

there’s been a lot of discourse over wether is it’s right or wrong for people to publicly share fanfics while ao3 is down, but i think this is crossing the line. this website makes an actual PROFIT off of authors’ works (you have to pay to listen to the audiobooks of the fics). +

they are using AI-generated audio for our works without consent and making a profit off of them. I have never had a problem sharing mine for free, and would even be happy to do free podfics, but someone else profiting off of AI generated content of my work? Fuck right off.

not gonna say anymore on this but when ao3 comes back up you bet your ass I'm gonna be leaving comments on every fic I read for every shitty opinion I saw over this weekend because I have free will and i certainly don't want to run the writers in my fandom out!

Replying to @7erracotta
Contact the domain host instead, you don't have to use your AO3 email, only provide proof of your ownership of the content and include all the offending links in one email.

I'm not going to even bother emailing those fuckers from ao3 dot life to take my fic nor waste time making a burner email account. I don't trust for a second they will honour the request. That entire website needs to be taken down

I have no desire to have any of your emails. In fact, I'd prefer we don't have to speak again (no offence). As I have stated, please use a burner when contacting the site administrator. If you don't wish to contact them, hopefully OTW and our collective rage gets the site removed
If you see this post - don’t go there. This seems like a phishing attempt (maybe to click the audio file ‘downloads’). Look at the original poster - account made yesterday. 10 followers. 2 posts.

When there’s people that do this, you wonder why authors are asking for their work not to be reuploaded to public drives.

I’m definitely going to email them to remove my work, hopefully I don’t have to jump through 284792 hoops

Nvm I will not be doing that because how can they even tell the email is linked to my account??? I’m just gonna report to OTW 😭😭😭

Please check this website. All of my work and of my fellow writer friends was scrapped. Please don’t remove your work the way they suggest it and doxx yourselves. Follow the AO3 guidelines and be safe. This is what we meant when we were asking fair our work not to be reuploaded
