#RightNow: Makerere University Training Academic Heads of Department in Financial and Economic Appraisal of Academic Programmes.
Academic Heads of Department have gathered in the Senior Common Room, at the Main Building, Makerere University for a refresher on the Role of Integrated Regulatory Cost-Benefit Analysis in Assessment of Academic Programmes.
Organised by the Office of the First Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs, the session is intended for Academic Heads to fully understand the new guidelines for revising or developing academic programmes, which serves as the essential entry point for compliance.
These guidelines include assessing the financial implications of programmes on both university and national budgets to secure the mandatory certificate of financial implication required by the Ministry of Finance (@mofpedU) for program approval.
While flagging off the training, Prof. Sarah Ssali (@SsaliSarah), the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs, concurred with the Ministry and mobilised the Heads of Department to comply and demonstrate that academic programmes at Makerere contribute to the development of the skilled workforce, scientific knowledge, technological capabilities and innovations required for Uganda's socioeconomic transformation. She also commended @mofpedU and the Public Investment Management Center of Excellence (@MakPIMCoE) at @MakCoBAMS for providing technical support to the University and supporting efforts to strengthen compliance with national planning, budgeting, and public financial management requirements.
