To splice or not to splice? Ever wonder how missplicing in stem and progenitor cells affect tissue homeostasis, well we got you covered! Beyond excited to share our new work on the role of SR proteins in the maintenance and homeostasis of two fast-cycling epithelial organs.A 🧵👇

We identified four Srsf1-specific targets critical for the homeostasis of epithelial stem/progenitor cells. Missplicing of these targets by the loss of Srsf1 or using antisense oligos, to mimic the observed exon-skipping, results in activation of the p53/p21 signaling pathway!
