On the question of supporting universal background checks for gun purchases, Mike Rogers says, "It all depends." @ChrisMurphyCT called the answer an "extraordinary moment" - not in a good way. "The idea that you should prove that you're not a criminal before you buy a gun is supported by 90% of Americans. It's more popular than apple pie in this country, and his promise to oppose universal background checks is wildly out of step with Michigan and the American public. It was kind of an extraordinary moment where he essentially told you he's going to be in line with the gun industry, not with what's popular or what's necessary to keep people safe," the senator told me.

Mike Rogers brings up Democrats for Rogers twice at the Michigan Senate debate to paint Abdul El-Sayed as extreme. It's an atroturfed group funded by Republicans. Read my reporting here: truthout.org/articles/democr…

Abdul El-Sayed hits back at Mike Rogers over the repeated racist attacks invoking the Muslim Brotherhood, calling the tactic "shameful": "To bring into question my commitment to the Constitution is really beneath you. I am proud of America. I'm proud to be an American. I'm proud of our Constitution that guarantees all of us the right to pray as we choose to pray."

When AIPAC came up, Mike Rogers accused Abdul El-Sayed of being "being bought off by the Muslim Brotherhood" and having donors from Hezbollah and Hamas. Needless to say, these groups cannot donate to campaigns and candidates in the United States. This is just straight up racism.

Heard this exact sentiment from several Black voters while reporting in Detroit last week. Many told me they reject Rogers’ divisive rhetoric & appreciate El-Sayed's attempts to bridge historic divides btw Black and Arab American communities.

Senator Warnock lays into Pete Hegseth as he criticizes the war on Iran at an event for Abdul El-Sayed: "For the money that we have spent in Iran, where clearly the teenager who is posing as Secretary of War has no plan - I mean, the man is sophomoric. I shouldn't insult children, but he's not a serious person. He's a joke, but it's not fun ... - you could provide pre-K for every four-year-old in America."

At an event with Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan Lt Gov Garlin Gilchrist, who is running for secretary of state calls Detroit the most important city in the country. "We decide how our country moves forward. That decision belongs to the people of this city and the Black people of this city that we call Detroit. And as one of those Black Detroiters, I'm here to say how excited I am to welcome and push my brother Abdul El-Sayed to be our next United States senator."

Ironic that without Brexit, the UK's foreigner policy on Israel would have been constrained by EU bureaucracy and the German veto. Who could have thought that Brexit would unleash London to be to the left of Brussels?

Israel boasts almost daily about wiping out dozens of Lebanese towns out of existence. Lebanon signed away its right to pursue Israel for war crimes in international court. Meanwhile, one of the lead negotiators for Lebanon is projecting yas queen energy on the pages of Vogue.

Say it with me: I am not an expert on French politics and I have not followed the protests closely enough, so I will not comment on the situation or draw grand conclusions from random videos whose authenticity I cannot confirm.

Tucker Carlson is all-in for the push to deport Rep. Ilhan Omar. "Is the Somalia First lawmaker some kind of criminal? Apparently, the answer may be yes," he wrote in his newsletter last week. Today, he uncritically quoted Tom Homan saying that the Trump could denaturalize Omar. "No sitting member of the United States Congress has ever been deported. That could soon change," Carlson said.
