How London’s bridges are being sold down the river is well worth a read. 🎩 to @harryph thetimes.com/article/3b6d00a…

This is clearly insane. A charity set up to maintain London’s bridges is sitting on £1.5 BILLION, funding political campaigns and giving £1.1m to a group with links to a charity now under investigation over alleged Hamas connections. Meanwhile, Hammersmith Bridge is still closed and other Thames crossings are crumbling. What on earth are @cityoflondon doing? Via @Fhamiltontimes in @TheTimes thetimes.com/article/1932707…

My attempt at discussing what has driven violent riots & wanton destruction in France (not without interruption). I was also reacting to unhelpfully labelling Kemi Badenoch's mention of challenges of migration y'day, as a Trump-like dog whistle #PoliticsLive

Why is the City Bridge Foundation funding “social justice” instead of fixing all of London’s bridges? The charity was set up in 1282. Today, it’s worth almost *£1.5 billion*. Yet… London’s bridges are falling apart. Why? The Foundation’s rules only require it to maintain 5 bridges. Funds can also be spent on “other charitable purposes” for the benefit of Londoners. So what are some of these “other charitable purposes”? 👉 A “poet-in-residence”. 👉 Trans and sex worker sector capacity. 👉 A historian examining connections to the slave trade (they found links were “limited”). 👉 “Systems change”, islamic charities, migration support, climate crisis research… and a group campaigning against a new river crossing. ENOUGH. Governments have failed to fix London’s bridges and one of our oldest institutions has not been directed to step in. The City of London Corporation is the sole trustee of the Foundation. They have changed the rules before. The rules must change AGAIN to make all of our bridges the priority. Change the rules. Fix the bridges. Our research in The Times 👇
My @thetimes column: An incredible tale of how an ancient royal charter charity founded to look after London’s bridges was hijacked by left-wing causes We may not have feral youth on the street, but make no mistake: this is looting With @lfg_uk times-comment.com/3b6d00ae

If you've voted for lower council tax, Andy Burnham is trying to force tax rises on you anyway. He says that he cares about local democracy - but clearly only when people vote the way he wants them to.

Tom will be a fantastic MP for Chelsea and Fulham. He articulated his free enterprise message with great clarity, grounded in his own success as an entrepreneur - he started his business from a co-working desk in Brompton Library. It became a major water technology exporter.

He also has strong local credentials as an @RBKC councillor. A worthy successor to @GregHands.

What should Limoges do with their town hall? 1 Rebuild it as was? 2 Rebuild as an 'honest' modernist building? 3 Leave it as an 'honest' ruin (the National Trust approach) 4 Rebuild it even bigger & better & more beautiful?

Jewish shops targeted. We have seen this before…
French journalist Paul Amar: “They came prepared. They had the addresses of town halls. They had addresses of Jewish shop owners. In a street in Marseille, all businesses owned by Jews were set on fire. Businesses run by Muslims weren’t”
