London bridges charity gave £1.1million to Muslim group whose trustee 'has ties to Hamas' while capital's river crossings crumble dailymail.com/news/article-1…

Why is the City Bridge Foundation funding “social justice” instead of fixing all of London’s bridges?
The charity was set up in 1282. Today, it’s worth almost *£1.5 billion*.
Yet… London’s bridges are falling apart.
Why?
The Foundation’s rules only require it to maintain 5 bridges. Funds can also be spent on “other charitable purposes” for the benefit of Londoners.
So what are some of these “other charitable purposes”?
👉 A “poet-in-residence”.
👉 Trans and sex worker sector capacity.
👉 A historian examining connections to the slave trade (they found links were “limited”).
👉 “Systems change”, islamic charities, migration support, climate crisis research… and a group campaigning against a new river crossing.
ENOUGH. Governments have failed to fix London’s bridges and one of our oldest institutions has not been directed to step in.
The City of London Corporation is the sole trustee of the Foundation. They have changed the rules before. The rules must change AGAIN to make all of our bridges the priority.
Change the rules. Fix the bridges.

So honoured to be selected as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Chelsea & Fulham from a field of exceptional candidates. We have an amazing team, and I can’t wait to start campaigning. We will turn Chelsea & Fulham blue again!

If you've voted for lower council tax, Andy Burnham is trying to force tax rises on you anyway.
He says that he cares about local democracy - but clearly only when people vote the way he wants them to.

Am delighted that my successor as Chelsea & Fulham Parliamentary Candidate and future MP will be….
Councillor Tom Bennett @Bennett_Tom_
He spoke so well tonight, with passion & commitment and was amazing in his Q&A -
Well done Tom & let’s work to make him our next MP!
Congratulations to @Bennett_Tom_ the Conservative candidate for Chelsea and Fulham!
Tom will be a fantastic MP for Chelsea and Fulham. He articulated his free enterprise message with great clarity, grounded in his own success as an entrepreneur - he started his business from a co-working desk in Brompton Library. It became a major water technology exporter.
He also has strong local credentials as an @RBKC councillor. A worthy successor to @GregHands.
Further taxes on passing businesses to the next generation risk taxing them to extinction.’

What should Limoges do with their town hall?
1 Rebuild it as was?
2 Rebuild as an 'honest' modernist building?
3 Leave it as an 'honest' ruin (the National Trust approach)
4 Rebuild it even bigger & better & more beautiful?

.@DanielJHannan: “I was lucky enough, in my very first English lesson at Marlborough, to be taught how not to say “um”. The secret? Just don’t say it. Pause instead; make your hesitations silent rather than vocal.”
Day spent in a meeting shortlisting candidates to be the Conservative candidate for Chelsea and Fulham at the next election. Very high calibre- an array of real world experience and all small state free marketeers and staunch supporters of @KemiBadenoch.
One theme of the day was that @FraserNelson's investigation for @thetimes on welfare has had a big impact. Strong desire to scale back welfare spending not JUST to save money but also the moral imperative for people trapped on welfare to be rewarded for working.
