I feel like Jared Kushner being at the center of the plot that ultimately led to an American journalist being dismembered via bone saw while he was still alive should be a much bigger deal than our billionaire owned news media is making of it.

I hate whenever there's some bullshit feature update that's on by default that you have to figure out how to turn off.
Discord is about to put your public messages on Google
Discord will start making messages from Discoverable public servers searchable on Google and other search engines from mid-December.
The feature is ON by default in most regions, but you can opt out:
User Settings → Data & Privacy → turn off “Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages.”
In the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea, it will be OFF by default.
Private servers, DMs and group DMs are not included. Usernames and avatars won’t appear alongside indexed messages.

We really gotta teach STEM majors the importance of not making things sometimes
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks.
By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time.
Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

I had no idea Japan has a term for its far-right, xenophobic, chronically online crowd: "Netto-uyoku" - widely disliked by other Japanese people and are known for being loud & obnoxious online, but cowardly in real life. Why does this sound familiar? 🤔

not to be homophobic or anything but i do genuinely like changing my and my spouse's engine oil and filters when maintenance time comes around. something enjoyable about crawling under the car and getting dirty and having my hands in machinery.

I’m so glad my mom was kind of insane and she hated how naive I was because she thought the world would destroy me if I went out into it with that attitude so she taught me that lying was not only fine, it was helpful and preferable in many situations. Like I got in trouble for
