I love that Hattersleys get a mention in this thread. A Keighley company that sent looms all over the world!
Replying to @dieworkwear
This weaving typically takes place in a shed located steps from the weaver's home. In the olden days, weavers used Hattersley single-width looms. Today, some operate Bonas-Griffith double-width looms to produce softer, lighter fabrics (ones made from that Cheviot woo)l.

I do love it when my pal's start off entertaining threads....
There are many claims for the oldest pub in Britain. The most famous is the Trip to Jerusalem at Nottingham: reputedly opened 1189, but this was invented in 1909 by the landlord. In reality its a 17thC building that was used as a pub by 1751. So which is the oldest? ...a thread🧵

I am now someone who points this out! @EmmaReimer3 .... you might like this!
The most stubbornly persistent myth about historic buildings is the yarn that all spiral stairs in castles turn clockwise to advantage right-handed defenders. Yet it was invented in 1902 by an art critic and didn't gain popularity until the mid-20th century... a thread 🧵

Still one of my fave objects to talk about! And outrageously blingy. I spared everyone the comedy pointing picture though...
There was one obvious choice for #green in the #museumrainbow - our #Malachite Chimney piece at Cliffe Castle. Made originally for the Great Exhibition in London, and it's very, very green (and blingy!) Learn more about it here: bradfordmuseums.org/from-rus…

Is anyone shocked that @asksheilas , more than a year after the incident with the van that hit my car and drove off have *still* not resolved the problems? No confirmation that the 'at fault' is off my account details, no refund of my access , despite promises made in Jan...
