Fascinating Brookings Institute study on AI & children's learning. Some findings that stuck with me: (note: I'm summarizing an article on the report, haven't read the original) (1/6)
Fewer than 4% of middle/high schoolers are in "explorer mode" — deep, agentic engagement. AI layered onto a system already producing passive learners risks locking in that disengagement.
It also leveled the playing field among teachers — bringing weaker tutors up to par with stronger ones. Cost? $20/tutor/year. It doesn't beat great human teaching. It just raises the floor.
BUT: In classrooms where 1-on-1 attention is impossible, AI tutoring showed +0.23 SD gains in 6 weeks — equivalent to 1.5–2 years of normal schooling. The gap-filling potential is real.
Cognitive offloading is a tradeoff adults make knowingly. For kids, it's different — you can only offload a skill you've already built. AI shortcuts may be skipping the building entirely.

(1/2) - Made a repo of some code samples that use @crewAIInc and @langchain to run mutli-agent workflows using local AI models with Ollama and @Mozilla's #llamafile:

For example,
"Identify cutting edge AI developments, then write a blog post that highlights the most significant advancements".
CrewAI will search the internet for sources of information, extract highlights, and write a post, all using a local model running on your computer.
Update - made a youtube tutorial of how to set this up, and added a file where you can create your own AI agent and tasks by answering some command line prompts .
