It has been a wretched 12 months for Marcus and his family following the accident. For years he was a highly respected and well liked member of the racing press room as well as a brilliant colleague at the Daily Mail. If you can help in any way it would be hugely appreciated
Marcus Townend Fundraiser About Marcus After time with local newspapers and the Sporting Life, he worked for the Daily Mail for 35 years, graduating to becoming its racing editor and correspondent – a diligent, principled, talented and tenacious journalist. Marcus's accident It is nearly a year since Marcus fell off his bike and suffered the first of three bleeds in his brain. Three months later, he had gradually recovered well enough from the first two to spend a month at home. The third bleed, which occurred at the end of March, following a plate insertion to repair his skull, proved the most damaging, from which he is still recuperating. Too late, he was finally diagnosed in July to have mild haemophilia. Despite his amazing determination to communicate clearly, self care and mobilise, he will require ongoing neurophysiotherapy and much care from others to achieve his independent potential. How you can help? This year's HWPA Derby Awards Lunch (Monday 7th December) will be combined with a fundraiser for Marcus.. 1. Straight Donation - join the many simply donating... justgiving.com/crowdfunding/… 2. Join the Wall of Supporters for the lunch - not only can you attend the lunch (£140 per head) using the form below, you can also join the list of company logos/sponsors that will form the backdrop form.jotform.com/26262629171… 3. Contribute a Silent Auction Prize - we will be running a silent auction in the weeks building up to the lunch with the auction finishing on the day. We'd love to add some more lots so if you'd like to donate something then email me [email protected]

It took Pep Guardiola eight years to clear his name the first time his legacy came under threat from allegations of cheating. This current storm will take far longer to pass. The least he should do now is call out those responsible. Column ⬇️ dailymail.com/sport/football…
