LawnStarter writer Danielle Gorski talked to 4 homeowners who go all out for Halloween and asked how they prepare/repair their lawns for/after the crowds. lawnstarter.com/blog/home-ga…
Quick trip to St. Louis this weekend to celebrate my nephew’s first book signing for “Stolen From Africa.” The world needs more heroes like John K. Herman and his central character Ardo Jalo.
From yesterday morning’s walk in Austin. Have to make these down-and-back trips every 5 or 6 months for pain relief for my other half.
My college classmate Gini’s cancer has been back for almost a year now. We talk every other Monday night and I try to make her laugh and lift her spirits. medium.com/@jeffherman/artis…

Quick trip to STL and back for my uncle Rich Croft’s 80th birthday party. Great to see him and all his siblings. When he blew out these candles he said he’d keep them for my 80th. Rich is a funny guy.
One of my Post-Dispatch colleagues, Geof Dubson, is a TSA agent at the STL airport. I spotted him and we caught up briefly. He’s doing great. Looks great too. So cool. When we said goodbye, he had to get back to work, he said, “Gotta go. My country needs me.” I miss his wit.
My first piece for @greenindpros, and it’s on a topic that is personal for me. My uncle, Paul Keeven, collapsed and died in a sod field at the family business. greenindustrypros.com/busine…
Discovered the Aircraft Observation Area is now open on Lemmon in Dallas. So cool. Used to watch planes with my grandpa in St. Louis when I was a little boy.
Did you know? Our obsession with great-looking lawns goes back to our Founding Fathers. lawnstarter.com/blog/lawn-ca…
Neat to see this mural taking shape on the walk to and from LA Fitness. It’s at Architectural Carpentry Materials in Dallas. Look closely. You’ll see an artist at work.
How did World Cup stadiums get those grass fields in place? How did FIFA land on the 2 perfect grass types to create those pitch-perfect fields? We have the answers to that and much more. lawnstarter.com/blog/sports-…
My favorite pic from last week’s morning walks. St. John’s wort, not to be confused with St. John’s wart, which was not as beautiful and in an embarrassing place.
We’re updating this daily as gas prices rise. This is hitting lawn care pros hard. The ways they’re saving at the pump can help you too. lawnstarter.com/blog/lawn-ca…
You see so much more walking. This is Sleeping Chicken, a sculpture in an upscale shopping center in Austin.
Help yourself — I’m not watching. (There’s a Ring camera on the door.) This made me smile on my morning walk inside the neighbor building. Take what you want or need. That’s hope and trust and faith for you.
