A lighthouse doesn't steer the ship. It gives steady light and warns of danger. Lighthouse parenting works the same way: you set the boundary, your kid gets choices inside it. Next time you're about to jump in, try: "Want help, or want to try first?" hey-kiddo.com/blogs/resource…

"Turn it off right now" rarely ends peacefully. Try instead:
• "When this episode ends, we're done."
• "Do you want to press the button, or should I?"
• "It's hard to stop when you're having fun." A clear stopping point + a steady limit = less pushback.

One more book. One more sip of water. One more hug. 😩 Toddler bedtime doesn't have to be a nightly negotiation. Here's what's behind the stalling, plus a routine (and a "bedtime pass") that helps 2-3-year-olds settle. hey-kiddo.com/blogs/resource… #ToddlerBedtime

Your kid doesn't need a 20-minute meditation. Try one minute: • Wiggle your toes.
• Smell the flower, cool the soup.
• Find one thing you see, hear, and feel.
Ask: how does my body feel now? Car, before school, mid-meltdown. Anywhere works.

Sibling fight over a toy? Don't pick a winner. Pause the grabbing. Let each kid share their side. Then ask, "What could work for both of you?" The goal isn't a quiet house. It's kids learning to work things out together. #ParentingTips

Why is my kid melting down over a sock seam? It might not be defiance. It might be sensory overload. Lower the input. Keep your words few. Stay close. Signs, triggers, and what to say in the moment 👇

Silly to sobbing in 10 seconds? For kids with ADHD, what looks like defiance is often an overloaded nervous system. Regulate first, reason second: fewer words, less noise, a body reset like wall pushes or a blanket burrito. Talk later. 💙 hey-kiddo.com/blogs/resource…

It's faster to just do it myself, isn't it? Same. But every time we step in, our kids miss a chance to figure it out. Try a snack bar: let them build it, carry it, clear it. Confidence comes from being trusted to try.

Is your kid a sore loser? Those tears aren't a character flaw. They show where your kiddo needs practice with big feelings. Name it: "You really wanted to win. Losing feels so disappointing." Skip the instant rematch. Help them recover instead.

Your kid asks "why?" for the 47th time today. That's not a phase to survive. It's their brain learning how to learn. 3 easy curiosity-building activities for your next play break: hey-kiddo.com/blogs/resource… #ParentingTips #CuriousKids

A child in the middle of a big feeling isn’t thinking about emotional regulation. They’re just angry. Or embarrassed. Or completely overwhelmed because the blue cup is in the dishwasher. We created the Big Feelings Survival Guide for those moments. hey-kiddo.com/blogs/resource…

Your kid came home different and your first thought was: I don't like that friend. Normal. Usually not the useful one. At 6 or 9, peer pressure isn't a dare. It's a shirt that's suddenly "babyish." The signs, plus 5 things to say: hey-kiddo.com/blogs/resource…

Some kids walk right up to a group. Others freeze. Friendship is a skill, not a personality trait. Give your kid one opener to keep in their pocket: “Want to play with me?" “Can I sit with you?" “What are you drawing?" Practice it at home before they need it.

The hardest parenting moment is the three seconds before you fix it. Your kid is stuck. Your hands are already moving. Pause. Then ask: “What have you tried?” “What could you try next?” “Want a hint or another minute?” Give the hint, not the whole answer.

Your kid doesn't need music lessons. They need five minutes and you. A song moves a stuck body and softens a hard transition when "calm down" won't. 3 music activities to try this week, from the Feel the Beat Collection with Kindermusik: hey-kiddo.com/blogs/resource…

The first day of school is less than a month away and I felt that in my chest. Supplies. New clothes. Practice schedules that haven’t been announced but absolutely are coming. I dump it all into HeyKiddo’s lists. One place, not six. Free. 🧡 #HeyKiddo

Summer is sold as carefree. For many parents, it's a high-cost, high-coordination stress test. The school year ends. The mental load doesn't. 🧵

Sun safety for kids isn't complicated, but it matters more than most parents realize. Most of our lifetime sun exposure happens in childhood. Early habits = long-term skin health. ☀️🧵

Watching your kid hang back at the edge of the group again? Friendship is a skill, not a personality trait. Kids don’t need to be outgoing — they need simple phrases and low-pressure practice. Try: “Let’s watch what they’re playing first.” Shy isn’t a problem. It’s a pace.
