HACKED: Sony just confirmed a data breach hitting about 2.58 million people 😬
It's not PlayStation this time. It's So-net, Sony's internet provider in Japan, plus plala (S Course) users, a Docomo service Sony runs.
Someone broke into the member database on October 19. Sony only found it on the 23rd, shut the server down, and went public yesterday.
Names, phone numbers, emails, user IDs, birth dates and gender all leaked. So did 54,401 email passwords and 16 bank account records. No credit card info, and Sony is still investigating how it happened.
I think the scariest part is it sat unnoticed for four days before anyone at Sony caught it.

Sony has suffered a massive data breach affecting around 2.58 million So-net and plala customers.
Sony Network Communications says hackers accessed its member database on October 19. Leaked information includes:
• Names
• User IDs
• Email addresses
• Other customer information
• 16 bank account records, including account numbers and bank names
The company says it has not found any leaked credit card numbers or expiration dates, and it does not store customers’ bank PINs.
Sony says the affected servers have been shut down and the unauthorized connections blocked, while internet services continue to operate.

🚨 PLAYSTATION ACCOUNTS UNDER ATTACK? SONY, GAMERS NEED ANSWERS! YOU NEED TO SPEAK OUT ABOUT THIS ONE!
Um, gamers, here's something that deserves attention.
New reports dated October 26 describe PlayStation users discovering unfamiliar child accounts in their PSN family lists. Others say their account email addresses were changed without permission. Some suspect attackers got past two-factor authentication. WTF?
Now, here's where we separate facts from internet fireworks. These are user reports. A widespread password-and-2FA bypass has NOT been independently confirmed, and Sony hasn't publicly explained what's happening. @Sony WTF Not?
Imagine paying for a console, games, and years of digital purchases, then waking up to find somebody else rearranging your account. Yeah, the family plan comes with surprise relatives. Oh @Sony How thoughtful. 🙄
Sony, gamers deserve an explanation, a proper investigation, and account recovery that actually protects the account owner.
Check your PSN family members, account-change emails, and recent transactions. Keep 2FA enabled, and contact PlayStation Support if anything looks wrong. So they can just ignore you. If they don't acknowledge it, it doesn't exist. Right Sony?

A new PSN security issue lets attackers bypass passwords and two-factor authentication.
Players have reported unknown family members being added to their PlayStation Network accounts without permission
The biggest problem is that these added family members could potentially be used to access personal information, including saved payment details.
One affected user contacted PlayStation Support directly, and apparently even support doesn’t have a clear answer yet on what’s actually causing it.
For now, the advice is to:
• Reset your PSN password
• Change the email used for your PSN sign-in ID
• Check your Family Management for accounts you don’t recognize
• Contact PlayStation Support if anything looks suspicious
Sony still hasn’t publicly confirmed what’s behind the issue.
