Some people severely underestimate Hannah Hidalgo’s PLAYMAKING ability.
As shown below, she ranked in the 95th percentile in playmaking (accounting for apg, tpg, AST%, TOV%, AST:USG, etc.).
I think people get it wrong because she’s been asked to play both PG and SG in different years within both HS and college:
- Lieberman Award winner (Best PG in the nation)
- All-American and NPOY finalist as both pg (freshman/jr years) and sg (soph yr).
- Off-Ball Production: 38.7% on C&S 3s on 4.3 attempts per game (per Torvik) and similar production on cuts (pts produced and PPP) as Sonia Citron (per Hoop-Explorer) as an off-ball guard.
To me, the FLEXIBILITY to play both lead ballhandler and off-ball guard is a massive STRENGTH. Thriving at an elite level across two distinct positions is RARE.
good morning! i did a WNBA mock draft for @BleacherReport, might be doing some more W stuff over there. hope you’ll give it a look: bleacherreport.com/articles/…
She talked about playing pg as a freshman/sophomore in HS then having to switch to more of a scoring role as a junior/senior.
At Notre Dame, she played pg her freshman and junior years but was forced to shift to sg her sophomore year when Olivia rejoined the team.

1 ou 2 de draft car :
- Excellent playmaking
- Créatrice de décalage
- Drive
- Passing
- Playmaking défensif générationnel
- Provocatrice de LF
Il n’y a que finalement le tir qui manque (mais en cours de développement).
Certes petite mais elle en a fait un avantage !

HANNAH HIDALGO IS A WALKING 🪣
Hannah Hidalgo now has the most career 20-point, 10-steal games (7) of any player THIS CENTURY 🤯
You can tell Hannah Hidalgo has worked on her pull-up jumper, and it’s butter now! 🔥
HH3 breaking the NCAA steals record was going to be a stretch. But she might break it.
This ND team is so good! Already exceeded my expectations. Macy, Abii, Lewis, St. Rose, Hardy! ☘️
Hannah Hidalgo plays today at 7:00 PM est! ☘️
Looking back on her performance against Villanova (rated #26 per Torvik), her LEAD GUARD metrics were absurd in terms of scoring and playmaking (Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, etc included for reference)!
She also has this year to pile onto those accolades.
She's on pace to be the 1st player in NCAA history to finish with career averages of 20 ppg | 5 rpg | 5 apg | 4 stocks per game. Nobody has ever done what she's done.
Who was the archetype for Zeke before Zeke? Limiting your thinking to archetypes is why so many misjudged what Jalen Brunson could do in winning Finals MVP.
I see some people really overthinking Hannah Hidalgo as a WNBA draft prospect.
To me, there’s no question. She’s on that trajectory of having the kind of legacy Zeke had for the NBA. That’s why there really isn’t a comp for her in the WNBA game yet.
Total package of scoring, playmaking, defending, athleticism, handles, leadership, work ethic, and dawg.
Athleticism and Handles tend to get severely underrated in draft analyses of players (esp guards) imo. Her Work Ethic (also underrated) of practicing until she keels over in exhaustion tells me she will never stop adding to her game. She’s gotten better every year of her college career and will continue to do so.
There’s almost like a minimum level of Athleticism and Handles that guard prospects need in order to be even viable. Heavy ball pressure on those guards w/o it make those guards with ball-handling responsibilities virtually unplayable. We saw it in the WNBA playoffs, and we see it in March Madness.
Also, as we saw in the WNBA Finals and as high-level coaches preach, winning POSSESSION BATTLES is very important to winning games because it gives a wider margin for error, as shooting variance is inevitable (games can be won in different ways via a mix of possessions and TS%). Possession Battles won 5/6 of the 7 games. Hannah’s impact as a net POSSESSION MAXIMIZER is severely underrated. It’s hugely valuable at the college level and will be at the WNBA level as well.

Hannah Hidalgo is never shy of taking matters into her own hands. What stands out is her taking advantage of mid-range opportunities, especially the space she has to elevate/all of the bodies that are under the rim
Who are the most CLUTCH players in WCBB?
Here are all the players who took 20+ FGAs in clutch time (<=5m, <=5pts) vs Top 50 teams last year.
Hannah Hidalgo is arguably the most CLUTCH:
🎯 56.8% eFG%
🏀 0% AST'D (100% pure self-created offense otd)
Unassisted shot creation in clutch time is arguably the ultimate superstar trait (esp for guards).
