A note on my username for non-Scots speakers, "Quine" is the Scots word for a girl, derived from the Germanic "quean", NOT queen. The Danes used it to mean a harlot, but it's been the NE Scots dialect term for a girl at least 100yr! We don't say lass unless we mean GF.

An ad for Aberdeen's Stewart & Rowell Combworks, one of the first to use modern tech to make combs from animal material. They later switched to a casein-based synthetic substance they trademarked "Keronyx". Wonder if plastic waste could have been avoided had others used it? – at Aberdeen, Scotland

#OTD in 1320 the 'Declaration of Arbroath' was produced. Very excited to see it on display @NtlMuseumsScot in June!

ALT The Declaration of Arbroath, ostensibly a letter from the barons of Scotland to Pope John the twenty-second. It is a single piece of parchment with two sizeable holes towards the left hand side and numerous seal tags at the bottom. Several of the seal tags still have seal matrixes attached in red or green wax.

It's said that "rosemary will not grow in the garden of a house unless the woman is the master." In what I'm sure is merely a coincidence, the front and back yards of my house sport flourishing rosemary bushes.
Consider yourselves warned, guys. #FolkloreThursday
