This last year of my life has been crazy. I moved to Finland from Canada. Work and personal trips have taken me to Japan, Brussels, Spain, Gibraltar, Norway, Estonia, London, Vienna, back to Canada. With trips coming up to Rome, Krakow, Sweden, and back to both Canada and Japan before Christmas. I might even squeeze in a trip to see the Baalbek ancient ruins in Lebanon. It’s been a whirlwind but I’m grateful for the experiences. Not much to tweet on here anymore. But I do still appreciate the platform and all the connections on here. Not sure if the platform fits me anymore. But I’ll remain for the informative entertainment. 😎
Lebanon overall was an exciting trip. Outside of Baalbek and some of the other photos I’ve shared, there’s another Lebanon. That one involves Hezbollah and the challenges in the country around the divisions. The war in South Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah has pushed a million Shiite muslims north into Beirut and other regions. The Baalbek region has a large Hezbollah presence. The government forces have a lot of checkpoints but Hezbollah is so powerful within the country. I was careful not to take photos at the checkpoints or of any military personnel or equipment. Regular Lebanese are angry with Hezbollah for bringing more war onto the country. And the government is trying to maintain a balance so the country doesn’t fall back into civil war again. You can feel the pressure in the country and most people just want peace. But for some there’s no argument beyond “it’s Gods will” and that keeps feeding conflict. As one Lebanese told me “Thank God there is an Israel because if there wasn’t Hezbollah would turn inward and the civil war would tear the country apart”. The Lebanon trip will stay in my mind for a long time.
The algorithm changes by region. I travel a lot and have been in 21 countries this year. My X feed changes in each place. As an example, in Europe I get most of the Ukraine and Russian war news and opinions. I just spent 3 days in Lebanon and nothing about that war was generating in my feed. Just relationship slop. Now that I’m in Istanbul airport my feed is once again full of that war. I’m sure it would have been there if I searched. It’s just interesting to see the flow of the algorithm when travelling globally.
Finally made it to Baalbek, Lebanon. A dream come true. Thanks to pioneers like @Graham__Hancock for bringing knowledge of these ancient wonders to the modern mind. I’ve learned in life that you can just go and do things.
More Krakow, Poland. Included in these photos are what’s left of the Jewish ghetto walls from WW2. Also Schindler’s factory. Though I didn’t get to go in as I didn’t pre-purchase tickets and the day was sold out. The chair memorial for the ghetto. Also Wawel Royal Castle.
Early morning photos in Krakow square. The golden morning light captures the beauty of the area and the over 800 year old St. Mary’s Basilica.
In Krakow, Poland for the rest of the week. These are a few photos from the old central square. On the agenda is the Schindler factory, what’s left of the WW2 Jewish ghetto walls, and Auschwitz.

📷😎I picked back up an old photography hobby again last year. But this time I fully committed. New gear. Lots of travel photos from around the world. Now lately I’ve been increasing my photography abilities with playing around with new camera settings and spending more effort on the composition. And I’ve been getting some amazing photos. More creativity.

This is Europa Point in Gibraltar. Africa is just there across the water. Spending a few days in Spain and had to do a quick stop in Gibraltar.
