🦠🧫👩🔬🧪Well done to these super scientists who represented Highfield at the @QuizClubUK Science Quiz area heat this morning! They had to answer tricky questions on all sorts of topics, from parasites to Pluto, and oxidation to ozone! Mrs Barbour was very impressed! 🦠🧫👩🔬🧪
It’s Mrs Barbour’s favourite science lesson of the year - air resistance! We are making parachutes to test how changing the size impacts the speed at which they fall. Here we are mid-make! #GirlsInSTEM @HighfieldScis @HighfieldHead @chatsworthschls

The children in Upper Preschool are getting so much more confident with their writing and drawing skills. They always come up and show me before popping it into their trays to take home. @EYChatsworthSch @HighfieldPrep #earlyyears #phonics #drawing #preschool #proud
Busy busy busy in #engineering today! The girls are using craft knives and saws to build cam mechanisms out of cardboard and wood to convert rotary motion into linear motion. #girlsinSTEM @chatsworthschls @HighfieldHead
Our afternoon session was kayaking down the River Torridge; here the girls were able to put in to practice the skills they learned in the pool last year. @HighfieldHead @chatsworthschls #HighfieldActivityWeek2023

Year 5 are kicking off the term by taking part in the #ChatsworthIdeas competition, designing an idea which will solve a modern, urban problem with a focus on sustainability. We have refined our problem and have come up with a solution - now to create a prototype! #GirlsInSTEM

We had some fun today exploring how different instruments create high and low sounds - AKA pitch. It's all to do with frequency of vibrations! We even got to try Mr B's very shiny electric guitar - rock on! 🤘🎸
