Actually No, souvenirs is a Yoruba thing. The whole, wedding party culture is their culture. According to my auntie, the Igbos in Lagos brought the culture down to the east and after I heard the story I was happy because what do you mean there were no wedding receptions or food??

As a woman, just find a way to leave this country. I don’t even want to imagine what life would be like for our women in a Biafra. Look at how women are treated in Nigeria, where men already feel entitled to control our lives, bodies and choices. Now imagine those same men having a country of their own, with the power to determine the laws, culture and values that govern us. I fear that the freedom they are fighting for could come at the expense of our women.

If we really want to talk about soups that was inspired by poverty in Nigeria then Igbo soups tops the list. Majority of their soups were discovered during the war due to extreme starvation and poverty. They were literally eating anything that grows.
