NOVEMBER 3, 2026 | TWO YEARS SINCE THE ATTACK AT HINDU SABHA MANDIR, BRAMPTON
Two years ago, on November 3, 2024, Hindu Canadians were attacked inside Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton.
Pro-Khalistan demonstrators carrying Khalistan flags devotees visiting temple. Worshippers, including families with women and children, were caught in the senseless violence.
A Hindu place of worship became a scene of violence and intimidation, in broad daylight, on Canadian soil.
Even more concerning was the presence of an off-duty Peel Regional Police sergeant carrying a Khalistan flag. The officer subsequently faced disciplinary proceedings related to participation in Khalistan-related demonstrations. But it still raises doubts and lack of trust, are our institutions are compromised?
Two years later, the questions of accountability, public safety, and protection of Hindu places of worship remain important.
The Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) continues to demand:
1. Stronger security and protection for Hindu temples.
2. Zero tolerance for Canada-Based Khalistani Extremism (#CBKE) and any extremism targeting Hindu Canadians.
And now, a question for Brampton Mayor @patrickbrownont - Will Mayor Patrick Brown publicly acknowledge this day and reassure Hindu Canadians that their temples, families, and religious freedoms remain a priority?
Leadership is not just about attending celebrations, taking photographs, or making speeches. It is about standing with communities when their safety is threatened.
If Mayor Brown chooses to remain silent, Hindu Canadians in Brampton, including temple leadership, have every reason to reassess the level of trust and support they place in his leadership.
Our temples are not political bargaining chips. Our safety is not negotiable.
Two years later, we remember. We demand accountability. And we expect leadership.

We remember the horrific political violence of 1984 and the thousands of innocent Sikhs who lost their lives. Their suffering must never be forgotten.
But history cannot be told selectively.
The violence of the 1980s and 1990s also claimed thousands of innocent Hindu lives at the hands of militants. Official figures have recorded over 11,000 civilian deaths attributed to militancy, including thousands of Hindus. There were documented incidents where Hindu passengers were singled out and killed on buses and trains.
One community’s suffering must never be acknowledged by erasing another’s.
And let’s be absolutely clear, Political violence and historical grievances from another country cannot justify intimidation, harassment, or targeting of Hindu Canadians, our temples, women, and children here in Canada. Nor can they justify disrupting neighbourhoods or creating hostility between communities.
The overwhelming majority of Hindus and Sikhs in Canada want peace, dignity, and mutual respect.
A small group of extremists, including those associated with Canada-Based Khalistani Extremism (#CBKE), does not represent the entire Sikh community.
Remember every innocent victim. Reject selective narratives. Condemn extremism without double standards.
FACTS PREVAIL.
Official figures put civilian deaths by militants in Punjab at over 11,000 (MHA RTI: 11,694; SATP ~11,600).
For 1981-91, MHA data cited in Paul Wallace and VN Narayanan: 3,871 Hindus and ~6,200 Sikhs killed by militants. KPS Gill/SATP estimate ~4,500 Hindu civilians overall.
The "400" figure is not supported. Documented massacres (Lalru bus 1987, Hoshiarpur 1986, multiple train attacks) specifically targeted Hindu passengers.

While we remember the tragic 1984 violence after PM Indira Gandhi’s assassination, we must also acknowledge the thousands of Hindus killed by militants in Punjab. Official figures record overall civilian deaths by militants exceeding 11,000. Selective highlighting of only one community is not right. As Hindu Canadians we stand together.
However politically motivated violence from abroad must not be used to divide communities here in Canada.

This week, we honour the thousands of innocent Sikh men and women who were brutally killed in Delhi in 1984 simply because of their faith.
More than four decades later, our hearts and prayers remain with the victims, survivors, and their families, who continue to carry the pain of this tragedy.
Their lives and stories must never be forgotten.

HAPPY HINDU HERITAGE MONTH 2026!
November is more than just a month of celebration. It is a time to recognize our rich Hindu heritage, celebrate our contributions to Canada, and reaffirm our strong Hindu identity.
Our identity is rooted in thousands of years of civilization, guided by the timeless principles of Dharma, Karma, Seva, and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
As Hindu Canadians, we have every reason to be proud of who we are, where we come from, and what we contribute to this wonderful country we call home.
A strong Hindu identity and a strong Canadian identity go hand in hand. This Hindu Heritage Month, the Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) encourages every Hindu Canadian to:
1. Celebrate your Hindu identity openly and confidently.
2. Educate others about our traditions, sacred symbols, values, and contributions.
3. Engage with schools, libraries, municipalities, and public institutions to ensure Hindu heritage receives the recognition and respect it deserves.
4. Pass On our rich heritage to the next generation, so our children grow up knowing their roots and taking pride in their identity.
Our heritage deserves to be celebrated, our contributions deserve to be recognized, and our identity deserves to be respected.
This November, let’s make Hindu heritage more visible, better understood, and proudly celebrated across Canada.
“Discover. Understand. Celebrate.”
