The original iBuyer model starts with one question: Can we buy this house? But most sellers are trying to answer a different one: How do I get the best outcome for my property? That’s why Opendoor’s move toward agent referrals and traditional listings is interesting. The bigger opportunity may not be getting every homeowner to sell directly to Opendoor. It may be becoming the place homeowners go to start the selling process. At HomeJab, we look at it from the other direction: prepare the property, maximize its value on the open market, and use a cash buyer when that makes more sense. Different path. Same goal: give the seller better options. homejab.com/what-opendoors-a…

A seller could be sitting on $200,000 in home equity and still hesitate to spend $5,000 getting the property ready to list. But what if they didn’t have to pay any of it upfront? That one change could completely reshape how homes are prepared for market. homejab.com/the-0-upfront-li…

We’ve been doing a lot more rekeying lately for vacant homes. Sounds simple until the key is missing, the lockbox is empty, nobody is on site, or the scope changes when the locksmith arrives. It made us wonder: why are we still using physical keys? We looked at whether keyless locks are actually a better option — and why many owners still aren’t ready to make the switch. homejab.com/why-are-we-still…

Real estate photographers are ready to buy American. The problem is finding an affordable American-made drone that can actually compete with DJI. With new FCC restrictions putting more pressure on Chinese drone manufacturers, the U.S. drone industry has a major opportunity. We think real estate photographers could be one of the biggest markets for an affordable American alternative. Read our take: homejab.com/real-estate-phot…

The $20 billion+ real estate market no one talks about. Proptech is obsessed with the transaction: search, leads, offers, mortgages, closings, AI agents. But before any of that happens, sellers spend thousands getting the home ready to sell. Repairs. Renovations. Painting. Landscaping. Cleaning. Staging. Photography. It’s fragmented, local, operationally messy, and still mostly managed through texts, calls and referrals. Listing prep is one of the biggest opportunities in real estate. 🚨 The FIFA World Cup is now affecting real estate photography. For the first time in HomeJab's history, one of our photographers had a drone confiscated during a listing shoot because of temporary flight restrictions. If you fly drones professionally, check the airspace before every flight. homejab.com/world-cup-drone-…

New debate in real estate photography: Can an agent use listing photos to create an AI video? My take: if the photos were purchased to market that property, then using them in an AI video for the same listing should generally be allowed. That’s very different from using the photos for another property, selling them as stock, or training an AI model. AI didn’t change the purpose of real estate media. It just gave agents another way to market the home. homejab.com/who-owns-an-ai-v…

Could your house cleaner be training the robot that replaces them? A company called Shift is putting cameras on cleaners to create training data for robots. It makes sense. Cleaning is repeatable. But real estate photography is different. A scanner can document a room. A photographer can market a room. homejab.com/could-your-house…

Real estate buyers don’t care about Gaussian splats. They care about emotional connection. At HomeJab, we think AI-generated cinematic walkthroughs may ultimately become more important than interactive 3D environments for residential listings. Our latest article: homejab.com/real-estate-buye…
