Which is why we need a technically qualified Water Utility Oversight Board to advise council, and why IMO Thompson's days should be numbered.
The two Bearspaw failures cost taxpayers ~$125 million +
and all that happened to Thompson was that he got a promotion from @duckworth17
HomelessCalgary retweeted
I watched that and what it confirmed to me was that Thompson wasn't qualified to answer the Q (the widespread false assumption was that the failed pipes last 100 years - widely known as untrue in industry
and you were unqualified to discern when you were getting played or mislead
HomelessCalgary retweeted
You then followed up with questions of Thompson where he confirmed you met with him in private over your concerns over the health of the water system, and got him to acknowledge everything was fine, no concerns.
This was supposed to be a rebuke to the Mayor, I assume.

@JenniferWyness in today's Committee meeting, after mayor @JeromyYYC asked about accountability of Acting COO Michael Thompson, PEng, Thompson provided a masterful but still a lengthy dodge of the question-claiming that this whole past year has been one of accountability.Bahaha

With the number of changes currently in Admin:
*hiring of new CAO underway
*recent retirement of Acting COO last Friday
*Members of Water Utility Oversight Board announced
*domino effect throughout org
this will take some time to resolve
Future tweaking of budgets expected

N.B. There was one Committee meeting where, in response to questions from other Councillors, at least 2 maybe 3 times he responded to them as "Councillor Keating" before correcting himself.
It became a bit of a joke.

Does she have some sort of special connection with the Acting COO of Water that is at risk of being severely altered?
Reminiscent of when as former GM of Transportation he charmed the Council head of the Green Line (before a GL Board was formed) Shane Keating.
Not good.

I can't speak for the rest of the 1.6 million Calgarians, but Councillor @JenniferWyness plans to scrap the recently announced Water Utility Board does not instill confidence.
What in her @cityofcalgary
profile indicates any special knowledge in water resource management?
Cuckoo

And is someone asking CAO candidates how they would go about this in the recently completed long list interviews, as they would lead whatever implementation was required?

I thought council following the lead of @DanWMcLean was spending $7 million on zero based budgeting for a number of depts. I think Ernst and Young were leading the studies.
How does that fit with your chop-chop plans this go around?

This is political cheerleading and doesn't reflect reality.
What do you suppose Admin/ Engineering was doing for 16 months prior to the start of construction?
How about picking route & detailed design, and working with contractors.
They didn't start Dec 30th after 2nd failure
