An unhoused man who just got off work was unable to breakdown their tent or save any of their belongings before sanitation workers threw everything into a trash compactor, this morning in Westlake. They arrived just after the sidewalk was blocked off. @LATACO

I just walked down an alley. Probably 30+ homeless people living in between dumpsters. Normally I give 2 pairs of @hanes socks, but there were so many people I had to go down to 1 pair each. One woman told me she’s been there a year. She has a job. Just can’t afford rent! #SXSW

We need professional outreach with a variety of resources to work on encampment resolution. Otherwise, the police are just relocating people to another sidewalk and the process starts all over again.

"Housing is a Human Right" is a battle cry from advocates, yet saying it creates zero change. Most people do not want to provide what they feel is free housing to others. While I agree housing should be a human right, the statement does not influence people to shift paradigms.
