I made an offensive and defensive cheat sheet. I couldn't leave out special teams.
Just print off and have your special teams coordinator keep it with him during the game.

Hidden yardage in special teams is one of the most overlooked parts of football, but it has a major impact on winning. It’s the field-position value a team gains or loses through kickoffs, punts, returns, coverage, penalties, ball security, and situational decisions in the kicking game
It may not always show up the same way traditional offensive or defensive stats do, but it directly affects drive length, starting field position, scoring opportunities, and overall game flow. A kickoff covered inside the 20, a punt downed at the 7, a return that gets the offense beyond the touchback line, or a penalty avoided in the return game can all create hidden yardage that helps tilt the field
From a coaching and scouting perspective, hidden yardage is really about winning the small field-position battles consistently over the course of a game. It’s not always about one explosive return. It’s about forcing opponents to drive a longer field, creating shorter fields for your offense, making sound decisions in the return game, covering kicks with discipline, and avoiding mistakes that give away free yards
The teams that consistently win in special teams usually understand that every yard matters before the offense or defense even takes a meaningful snap. Hidden yardage is won in the margins, and over four quarters those small gains can become a major advantage

WHY A GREAT PUNTER MATTERS
A great punter completely changes the way a defense can play the game
From a coaching and scouting perspective, field position is one of the most overlooked advantages in football, but it directly impacts defensive success, offensive play calling, pass rush opportunities, and overall momentum
When offenses consistently start drives backed up inside their own 10 to 20 yard line, defensive coordinators can become far more aggressive with pressure packages, disguised coverages, and situational calls.
Offenses become more conservative deep in their own territory because one negative play can completely destroy a drive
That changes how quarterbacks process coverage, how offensive coordinators call the game, and how offensive linemen handle pressure
A quality punter is not just somebody with a strong leg. Coaches and scouts are evaluating net average, hang time, directional placement, operation time, situational awareness, and the ability to eliminate return opportunities
A 45 yard punt with elite hang time and placement is often more valuable than a 60 yard punt that outkicks coverage and creates a return lane
The best punters consistently help their defense by:
• Flipping field position
• Creating longer drives for opposing offenses
• Increasing third and long situations
• Helping pass rushers attack aggressively
• Limiting explosive offensive opportunities
• Creating hidden yardage advantages
Field position still wins football games at every level
Great punters may not always get the attention other positions receive, but coaches understand how valuable they are because they directly impact momentum, defensive strategy, and winning football
