Brought to you by @Cornell_Library
This candid photo was taken around 1905 and captures a casual embrace between two unidentified black women in what seems to be a forest or orchard. It is archived in the Loewentheil Collection of African-American Photographs. Handwriting on the back indicates their names as "Sammie Pratt" and "Miss Annie Bell." The image captures a moment of intimacy, evident through their comfort and relaxed postures. I cannot help but wonder about the lives of these intriguing women, and the possible depth of their bond. Whether they were lifelong friends, sisters, or perhaps even more, the enigmatic allure of the photograph leaves us with endless possibilities to explore. digital.library.cornell.edu/…

The older I get, the more I appreciate photographers.
I feel honored to have known Rex Cameron and to have given a home at @HumSexCollects for his archives.
He was bold and courageous in his life and art. Thank you, Rex, for creating space for trans people. #LorenRexCameron – at Ithaca, NY
“He wasn’t invested in hiding that he had been a woman. He put his whole body and soul out there," said Brenda Marston, curator of Cornell’s Human Sexuality Collection (@HumSexCollects) in the New York Times obituary for photographer Loren Cameron.

Looking forward to hearing more about Prof. Vider’s book in a field that Cornell decided 35 years ago to support through its acquisition of needed primary sources and that this site currently flags as “sensitive” if mentioned. #LGBTQhist #chatsinthestacks
Don’t let Twitter’s “sensitive” warning on this tweet keep you away. #LGBTQhistoryishistory #histsex

Our appeal: This is news about a book talk by a professor. The subject is gay history. Gay history is history, not "sensitive content ."

Here's to another year of continuing this fight, day by day! This poster is by Bernard Seaman, who was an art editor and mural painter for various unions, such as the ILGWU during his lifetime. Found in our poster collection, #6227G. #CornellRAD #KheelCenter

Tongue-in-cheek retro husband-finding advice from a coat seen on a tour of the Cornell Fashion + Textile Collection:
“Don’t be sulky”
“Grab him!”
“Don’t play the field”
