From the 'undisputed greatest string quartet in the world' (Daily Telegraph) comes the Takács Quartet's 21st album on Hyperion. They are joined by celebrated violist @ridouttimothy, whose participation brings a fresh dimension to the inner voices of these two masterpieces.

Written by Mozart in 1787 and recorded at London's @wigmore_hall in 2025, these two well-known quintets occupy a singular place in the chamber repertoire, balancing the lightness of the gallant style with a profound, often searching emotional depth.

On the birthday of Franz Liszt (1811-1886), my gratitude to enterprising pianist Leslie Howard and @hyperionrecords for giving us the complete works for piano. Howard aptly called it “the journey of a lifetime.” Issued in 2011 as a set of 99 CDs, it was a monumental achievement.
