ICOMOS GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2026 | The 22nd ICOMOS General Assembly is officially underway!
The opening ceremony brought together the international heritage community in Sarawak, Malaysia, marking the beginning of a week dedicated to dialogue, collaboration and the future of cultural heritage.
We were honoured to hear from Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, speaking on behalf of Minister Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, alongside ICOMOS President Prof.Teresa Patrício, ICOMOS Malaysia President Faisal Abd. Rahman, and ICOMOS Malaysia Convenor Ar. Kian Boon Tiong.
A vibrant cultural performance celebrating Sarawak’s rich heritage, followed by an evening of dinner and networking, set the tone for a gathering that brings together expertise, perspectives and shared commitments from across the world.
