Are you attending the Festival of Learning and Teaching @imperialcollege today?
Opening talk, thoughts: where’s the evidence that engagement with fossil fuel companies creates positive change, as Hugh Brady keeps saying it does?

BP's decision to cut 💰 in renewables & focus on oil & gas shows why @peopleandplanet's campaign to end fossil fuel recruitment at UK universities is necessary. These oil majors aren't gonna change so we must chip away at their social license to operate. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c337…

This website was a very useful way for the public to make air pollution relatable to them and as a gateway for people to know more.
It is tragic that the @CleanAirFund did not continue to fund this very important resource.

The Summer Careers fair at @imperialcollege had oil trader @Gunvor come and try to recruit students. Anyone reading our flyer said “wait, what?!”
One said “well f**k them”
Many gave us a 👍
Don’t allow oil traders at careers fairs. Nobody wants them.
No new oil/gas says @IEA
It turns out @Gunvor oil trading is mixed up in corrupt Russian politics

And after our protest in 2023, @imperialcareers invited both @Gunvor and @Glencore to the 2024 careers fair.
Clearly the Careers Service have not developed their ethics policy.
Will these criminals be invited in 2025?
If they are, expect the event to be disrupted.
HUGE NEWS! Over 75% of UK unis are #FossilFree 🥳 🎉 we’re way behind the curve now @imperialcollege with the majority of wins excluding all fossil fuels, not just some - what's the plan for fully aligning our investments with social + climate justice? 👀
HUGE win for migrant + climate justice as @UniofStaffs commits to #DivestBorders AND #FossilFree in UK first! 🥳 🎉
Migrant justice = climate justice. Unis must stand for both!
Surely our name should be next on the victory list @imperialcollege ? 👀

Our Fossil Free campaign and network stands with Palestinian liberation ✊
The fights to end extractivism, displacement, and climate breakdown, are intrinsically linked to the liberation of Palestine. Therefore, our campaigns must be informed by one another, and act in solidarity always!
We demand divestment from arms. From fossil fuels. From Israeli Apartheid.
Stop arms. Stop fossil fuels. Free Palestine. 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸✊

We won the @imperialcollege student union award for Campaign of the Year!
But what does that mean? Does it mean change is coming? Does it mean we were effective?
Effective action comes from students and staff putting themselves on the line, and management to ACTUALLY ACT.
We are very happy to announce we won the @icunion award for Campaign of the Year!

This is pitch perfect
Naturally, we could not improve on the pitch-perfect response by protesters yesterday to @SuellaBraverman
- it was both hilarious & powerful. But we figured we'd try to commemorate it somehow through music (tho not a shanty). Here's to the silent treatment. Long may it continue.
