This time of year comes with the obligatory change of profile picture. I thought I would use this opportunity also to re-introduce myself. My name is Shola Adewale Sandy, and I am a passionate Educator and Maths teacher working in inner London schools. Being an advocate for Equality, especially for Black staff members, it made sense to put my raw words down in the form of a 3-part memoir chanting my time in Education. If you haven’t already got your copy of ‘ICE’, please follow the link below and keep your eyes and ears peeled for Book 2 coming out later this year! Thanking you all for your support in advance!👊🏿 👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿 amzn.eu/d/4GnXVis

Can you believe they let me in!🤭 As it's half term folks for many AND Black History Month, why not pick up a copy of 'Black in School'📚 Essential reading as a Black Educator navigating working in UK 🇬🇧 schools I was honourd to attend the launch @HouseofCommons alongside several of the books amazing contributors, speaking their truths, with @BellRibeiroAddy brilliantly facilitating It was so inspiring to hear both co-authors @Kemi_Oluyinka & Caren Onanda's journey & what hurdles they had to leap over to succeed... As @SchoolsWeek rightly summarised 'Will you take the chance to move from a culture where some survive to one that all can thrive?' Grap your copy folks!👇🏾 amzn.eu/d/0dbRW8sy

No matter how difficult life becomes, DON'T STOP PUSHING. You may not be where you want to be today, but that doesn't mean you won't get there tomorrow. Keep working. Keep praying. Keep learning. Keep believing in yourself. Your current situation is not the end of your story. One day, the same struggle you're facing today will become a testimony. God has not finished with you yet. 🙏 Keep pushing! Your breakthrough may be closer than you think. #OriginalContentCreator

Cameras on the walls make a school feel secure. But a camera records an incident. It doesn't prevent one. Real safety is trained staff, clear procedures and children who feel safe to speak up. Is a school safe or just watched?

My Parents Paid for My Brother’s Wedding, House, and Honeymoon. When I Needed Help, They Called Me a Disappointment. Growing up in Ohio, I always knew my younger brother, Daniel, was the favorite. When he graduated college, my parents bought him a car. When he got married, they paid $35,000 for his wedding. Six months later, they helped him buy a house. Me? I worked two jobs to pay my student loans and never asked them for anything. Then, at 29, I lost my job and fell behind on rent. Desperate, I called my mother and asked if she could lend me $2,000. She sighed. “You’re an adult. Figure it out yourself.” That same weekend, I discovered they'd given Daniel $15,000 for a family vacation. Something inside me broke. I stopped calling. I stopped visiting. For the first time, I chose myself. Three years later, my father called unexpectedly. “Your brother lost everything,” he said. “We need you to help him.” I almost laughed. Then he added, “Your grandmother left you her entire estate. We just found the will.” Suddenly, the family that called me selfish wanted me back. But this time, I had one question: “Where were you when I needed you?”

At the beginning of this year I had five (5)major Goals which are. (1) stay alive and stay healthy: I made efforts by cutting alcohol intake by 60% also stopped eating junks started eating more of fruits and fresh smoothies. I started exercising more this year. So far this year I have not been to the hospital, thankGod for this. (2) monetized accounts: at the beginning of the year I gave myself the task of having a monetized social media account most likely X since this is where I am very active, and in less than 3weeks I got that. (3) Learn a foreign language: I gave myself the task of learning a new language, and recently I also started learning German, not perfect or fluent yet but i will get there. (4) grow my business: I almost ticked this, but September my shop was burgled so i can’t say I have achieved this. (5) 20,000 followers on X : I gave myself this goal for the year 2026, with how it is going I don’t think it is possible, but let’s see how it goes.
2026 is almost over. What has this year been like for you so far?

Maya told me she was calm. She deals with this once a week. She said, "Sir, you have about 15 minutes before you go into shock. I need to set your leg now. You can request another doctor, but the next surgeon is 40 minutes away." He said, "Then get him. I don't want a woman doing surgery on me, especially not you. Women shouldn't be surgeons, your hands are too shaky. And you people always make it about race." You people. Maya paged the other surgeon - a white male, Dr. Anderson. He was at home. On his way. She stayed in the room monitoring his vitals because she took an oath, even though this man was insulting her while she was trying to save his leg. His wife arrived. His wife BEGGED him. "Honey please let her help you, you're scaring me, please." He yelled at his wife: "Shut up! I'm not letting this little girl experiment on me! If I lose my leg it's because you let her touch me!" The bleeding was getting worse. Maya said his blood pressure was dropping: 90/60, 85/58. She said to him one more time: "Sir, I'm going to lose you if you don't let me put a tourniquet and set this. You will lose this leg. You might die. Please let me help you." He looked her dead in the eye and said: "I said NO. I'd rather die on my own terms than live because a woman like you saved me." So she stepped out and documented: Patient refusing care from attending physician based on gender/race.

Before you go to sleep tonight, know this- You have responsibilities. You have goals. You have dreams. You have a life that needs your attention. Every time you say yes to something that does not matter, you are saying no to something that does.

Could the accusations against the late Professor Jason Arday have contributed to his untimely death? 💔 If evidence eventually establishes a connection, should those responsible face legal consequences? Where do we draw the line between legitimate accountability and accusations that can destroy lives?
Clearing his name after he’s no longer here to see it. Rest in peace, Professor Jason Arday. You deserved your flowers while you were still, here. #writing #WritingCommmunity

You know what I love about readers who support indie authors? They don't just read the story. Sometimes they tell a friend, leave a review, or share a post because they want that author to succeed. Those little acts of kindness can mean so much.

In every class, one student understands the topic and is too afraid to say it. Another doesn't and is too afraid to say that too. Both stay quiet for the same reason. What did we do to make speaking feel so risky?

Want to know how a man will treat you? Pay attention to how he treats his mother. A man who genuinely respects, values, and cares for his mother is showing you something about his character. But remember, how he treats you matters even more. ❤️

X should reward meaningful conversations, originality, and genuine engagement rather than allowing the same big accounts to dominate everyone's timeline.
If you had the chance to make a suggestion to the X team today, what would that be?

The Million-Dollar Betrayal At 29, Daniel Carter was an immigrant from Nigeria working twelve-hour shifts at a small restaurant in New York City. Despite his exhaustion, he dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur. One night, after watching his manager struggle with endless food orders, Daniel invented a simple digital system that helped restaurants manage orders, reduce waste, and serve customers faster. He shared the idea with his wealthy college friend, Richard, who promised to invest in the business. Within two years, their company became worth $50 million. Daniel's invention attracted celebrity investors, and newspapers celebrated him as an inspiring success story. But success changed everything. ……
