After 13 years, Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week (2013–2025) is concluding.
What began as a small community-led initiative became a global awareness effort. Thank you to everyone who helped grow this movement. Michelle Chadwick

Hi I'm Michelle from Brisbane, Australia. I am #MoreThanIH. I am also a sleep health advocate, researcher, speaker & mum to 2 amazing young adults (& 3 cute fur babies). I enjoy listening to music and learning to paint with water colours.
What is IH? > bit.ly/IHFacts
Idiopathic Hypersomnia is a chronic neurological sleep/wake disorder that often doesn’t respond well to current treatments. Many people continue to struggle with debilitating symptoms.
People with IH deserve better understanding, more effective treatments, and improved outcomes.
Despite having extraordinary amounts of good quality sleep people with IH are in a constant state of sleepiness.
But IH is much more than that. IH can cause a range of debilitating symptoms including cognitive dysfunction (brain fog)

Two of the often debilitating symptoms of IH include:

📍 Automatic Behavior.
These symptoms can affect work, relationships, and safety and are often misunderstood or dismissed.

When I said this back in 2014, I had no idea how many people around the world felt the same way... it is deeply frustrating that, even now, there’s still no medication that effectively treats this distressing & debilitating aspect of IH." - Michelle Chadwick, creator of @IHAWeek
