Find better candidates that look forward, not backward. Loving cars in parks and fighting housing production does not win in the 2020s. SF has not moved to the right, it’s that your candidates have been awful or very unpopular (Breed).

Yes. If "progressives" in SF want people like me to stop using air quotes, they have to update their firm ware and do the things that people want, and that are shown to reduce rent, and housing costs, and homelessness.
And local media also has to update that firmware.

i'm sorry, @saikatc -- you went to the mat for Connie Chan, gave her millions of dollars, your progressive bona fides, your campaign operation and PAC ... all for your voters to barely break for her! you can see the correlation from Saikat (primary) to Connie (general) is positive, but tiny.
and this confirms what i've said before -- progressive YIMBYs like the progressive candidate, and that's Scott Wiener. yes, there's a tiny fraction of the electorate that is anticapitalist/gaza-pilled, but they're mostly limited to the Mission, Haight, and Twitter.

The one person who voted against this bill?
NIMBY Queen CONNIE CHAN
The SHADE Act has been passed into law today by Mayor Lurie!
Over the past 10 years, over 2000 units of housing have been blocked or delayed because NIMBYs said the housing would cast a "shadow".
So we're done letting red tape cast shade over our housing future. The SHADE Act will no longer allow shadows be used as a basis for environmental appeals. It will save between 3-9 months on some environmental reviews and up to $25,000 per project in reduced staff, consultant, and administrative costs.
We can protect our parks, respect our environment, and welcome more neighbors. We don’t have to choose. It’s time to let housing projects see the light of day.
Thank you to all those who helped turn this into law. My cosponsors Matt Dorsey, Danny Sauter, and Myrna Melgar. My legislative aide Raynell Cooper, all the incredible members of the Planning Department including Lisa Gibson, Lisa Gluckstein, Ryan Shum,Kei Zushi, Tania Sheyer, Debra Dwyer, members of the Mayors Office including Ned Segal and Adam Thongsavat, and our drafting attorney Andrea Ruiz-Esquide.

sf dsa and leftists: breathe in, breathe out, and accept the truth ... you're on the horseshoe! you're supporting the conservative in the race. it's OK, there's not enough of you that vote here, we're gonna defeat you, but you have allied with Trump supporters. when i say "Scott Wiener is the progressive in this race" i am being 100% literal.

San Francisco has not built enough housing to keep up with population growth. This leads to higher housing prices, forcing people who don't work in tech to move out of the city. This hurts everyone, as the city is now less interesting. Agree other cities should learn from this.
Kevin Atkinson retweeted
It's not exactly a mystery!
Those hippies saw anything big as bad, decided that included buildings, and fought for restrictions on denser housing construction that ultimately created an extreme supply shortage, drove prices up, and eventually decimated the city's working-class.

I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.
I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day.
And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.

"Chan, meanwhile, has a policy agenda and legislative track record that’s as spotty as it is sparse ... [her] record on housing is abysmal.” 🔥🔥🔥

the reason this lesbian bar story went so viral is that basically every left wing person in America has personally experienced some version of this story in their life over the course of the last decade and is really goddam sick of it

Sirota wrote an article rightly taking Newsom to task for killing @Scott_Wiener’s AI safety bill but manages to not mention Wiener at all because heaven forbid he give credit where due to a housing abundance champion.
Kevin Atkinson retweeted
fun fact: Scott Wiener authored one of the first aggressive, comprehensive statewide AI regulatory bills a few years ago, only to have it killed by Nancy Pelosi, your chief backer, teaming up with MAGA VCs from A16z, because she was still trying to hand the seat to her daughter

literally every single time Connie Chan gets criticism from Scott Wiener she claims it's because he hates women or chinese people. i think the reason he is criticizing you is because you are competing for the same job!
