Incuriousity will kill you!
As a young person, it’s a crime to not be curious about your world.
When @jordanbpeterson said the greatest skills you can have are reading and writing, I thought it was an oversimplification until I took stock of my trajectory. I realized that most of my ideas and opportunities have jumped at me in the place of reading, writing or reflecting on a concept I had just read or listened to.
Read books that discuss concepts, ideas, essays written by brilliant and accomplished people. Read beyond your comfort zone. Read for the sake of knowing.
In some cases, at the intersection of your primary field and another field you are reading about, you may develop a niche career out of it. You are privileged to be born in an age where you have YouTube, Google, AI. Act like it.
How badly do you want to be extraordinary?
If you are curious enough, you’ll have no need for mentorship. Knowledge is not scarce, source for it.
You can be a master at anything if you devote 10,000 hrs to it.
You want to write beautifully? Read
If you discipline yourself enough to want something, If you’re tired of being mediocre, you will fight to get out.
Be curious!

I hope everyone listened carefully to what Peter Obi said! He made it clear that if he doesn’t win the 2027 election, he won’t be contesting for the presidency again. At 65, he cannot keep running for president indefinitely. By the next election cycle, he’ll be approaching 70, an age when he should be enjoying his retirement rather than starting another political battle.
This is why we cannot afford to take 2027 for granted. We still have a chance to change the direction of this country, and we must treat this election as if our lives depend on it, because to a large extent, they do.
If we waste this opportunity with Peter Obi, we may never get another chance like this again. Wake up, Nigerians! 2027 is our moment, and we cannot afford to get it wrong!
Be brutal, be toxic for your future

The best, most comprehensive take on AI I’ve read. After a year of confusion and fear about the future, I finished it feeling like a weight had physically lifted.
It’s long. Make the time.

It's important that Western culture continues to be the dominant global culture, not Chinese or any other culture.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Mao Zedong is under any single social metric a dictator. Not a single popular election, single government party and lifetime leadership. Not even taking into account the millions of deaths under his reign.

Pan-Africanists do not realise that they are the most western-oriented.
No framework of development other than anything remotely perceived as ‘neo-colonialism’

1. She didn’t debate the measure of degree, it’s a strawman you brought
2. Fact is, we also had a culture of conquest
3. Degree is largely determined by capacity amongst other factors.
4. What should I study? Pointers please
5. What part of her tweet is wrong?
So happy for Harry Kane. At least, years from now, even without any serious cup win, the Ballon D’or winner would be written under his name.

We had a culture of conquest. We were not self-sufficient. We didn’t even have writing. But that isn’t even my point.
If we must grow, we need to change our mode of inquiry. It is not ‘what’ we have but why we have what we have.
Ask the Greeks, the progenitors of Western civilization.
Especially Thales in the 6th BC. He said why say the gods caused the earthquake, for instance, when we can find out if we can explain it through natural principles.
That our “harmattan” that has suddenly changed character may have been predicted with this mode of inquiry and we would have thought of inventing the air conditioner.

"Someone" here 👋🏾
The heat today wasn't always there. Climate change has done a lot to the climate we all grew up in. Heck, our harmattan that used to feel like peak autumn is nearly completely gone. We had no use for ACs because these heatwaves weren't a thing. The people who needed the ACs invented them.
My argument was that we were sufficient and had no culture of conquest, and there's bountiful evidence that we were developing at our own pace technologically. It'd be wrong to argue that there'd never have been a technological leap that caught us up without interference.
Welcome back Ifechi, I missed our small small arguments, even the ones you still laugh about
Luke in Acts. 17 said that the Bereans were most noble because they listened to Paul’s teachings and went back to search the books to check if they were correct.
Those Bereans were Greeks.
Little wonder they codified thinking and logic, the foundation of every human invention.
Sometimes you see a name like Aristotle come up in different fields like Biology, Politics, Poetry, Astronomy because they valued observations.
The Greek society never stopped at myths. Nothing was too sacred to poke at. If you claimed something, be ready to come before the people armed with questions.
Norway uses its oil wealth to support public services, including education. Young Norwegian students can attend public universities without tuition fees, while children benefit from free public primary and secondary education. Nigeria is also an oil-producing country, we should borrow a leaf from Norway and turn our oil wealth into better schools, affordable university education, and opportunities for young people.
Our natural resources should improve the lives of our people, not just enrich a few, stop defending the politicians who are impoverishing you with their inhumane policies.

Most Black folks are talented and they thrive individually but fail repeatedly as a collective. Most of them want to eat today and rub it in the face of their neighbours.
Rap this up. Stale.
This is what happens when you swallow western propaganda whole with no attempt to educate yourself with their internet. Have you heard of a not so little thing called colonialism and the human trade that disrupted our development? Was air-conditioning made before that? We don't plant trees? With all our forests and sacred groves that law, religion and culture demanded remain inviolate till same western laws and culture dictated they be cut down? Now they are the ones teaching us to plant trees? Before they stumbled on the science of conservation we were there. They stole these things from you, destroyed yours, then taught you to worship them for it. Same people with the over industrialized, smoking, noisy, stinking cities, literal concrete jungles that polluted the world, ushered in the era of climate change and destroyed the ozone layer. "Writer." Try to do some reading first ehn, so what you write won't be regurgitated centuries old propaganda missionaries were selling
Again, you miss the point.

Ancestors didn’t project a population bulge?
Didn’t prepare against seasons water bodies would recline?
You think on a hot afternoon if Okonta came back from hunting and into a pre-AC chilled hut, he would not offer all his game to his Ikenga in thanksgiving?
Replying to @Ifechideere
Our ancestors didn’t live in concrete boxes with micro windows, they lived in cold clay quarters with thatched roofs and lived very close to water bodies,I assure you, they did not face the heat you’re facing today
