Benjamin Netanyahu has suffered a major political setback in Israel’s elections, shaking the very foundations of his political power. The man who dominated Israeli politics for years is now struggling to secure enough support to remain in power.
Here is the complete breakdown of the election results:
🔹 Netanyahu’s Likud Party 27 seats.
🔹 Netanyahu’s entire coalition 53 seats.
🔹 Opposition coalition led by Gadi Eisenkot 48 seats.
🔹 Arab parties 19 seats.
So, what went wrong for Netanyahu?
First, the October 7, 2023 attacks and the questions surrounding Israel’s security failures. The opposition has repeatedly challenged Netanyahu over the security lapses and demanded accountability.
Second, the Gaza war. Its prolonged duration, devastating humanitarian consequences and the damage to Israel’s international image have continued to raise serious questions about the government.
Third, the military conscription controversy. The exemption of ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities from military service has become a major political flashpoint within Israel.
