If you bring your child to an adults-only Halloween party at the last minute, you don't get to dictate how everyone else spends the evening.
I recently threw a Halloween party for my friend group. One guy showed up with his 8-year-old daughter because her original playdate had fallen through. I had no problem with him bringing her. Things happen, plans change, and I was happy to accommodate.
But about 20 minutes later, he started demanding that I change the TV because we were watching the original 1978 Halloween and apparently it was too scary for his daughter.
Here's the thing: Nobody forced him to bring his child. Nobody promised this would be a kid-friendly event. The party was planned for adults, and everyone else was perfectly happy watching the movie.
I politely but firmly told him no.
If you bring your child into an environment that wasn't designed for children, it's your responsibility to manage what they're exposed to. You can take them into another room, distract them, leave early, or make other arrangements.
But you don't get to walk into someone else's party and expect everyone to change their plans because you brought a child unexpectedly.
Being accommodating doesn't mean everyone else has to revolve around your parenting decisions.
Am I wrong here, or was saying no completely reasonable? 🎃

One thing I enjoy about the Gilded Age that I don’t really see much in Bridgerton, is that the black characters actually have storylines and side quests. I remember starting Bridgerton and although I really like it, I was like I want more insight on the black experience
Was poor and that was far from the case LMAOOO but yeah I like seeing a black character from that time portrayed as educated because during time period shows set in that phase, we always play the maid/someone uneducated.
I swear The Russells have cockroach energy😩🤣🤣 anyone or anything sent to destroy or end them, never succeeds. I have no choice but to stan my favorite problematic power couple #TheGildedAge
