Jiangxin Island is one of China’s Four Famous Islets, lies in the middle of the Ou River in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, just a short ferry ride from the city center. The island began as two separate islets. In 1137, a monk led the filling of the channel between them, joining the two into one landmass. For centuries it has been praised as the “Penglai of the Ou River”—a reference to the mythical fairyland—and honored as the “Island of Poetry”. Today, Jiangxin Island is a National AAAA tourist attraction and a cultural anchor of Wenzhou’s tourism. Visitors come for its twin Tang and Song pagodas, ancient temples, and literary heritage, making it one of the city’s most iconic destinations
