Building on Narasimha Rao’s reforms, Vajpayee combined fiscal discipline, infrastructure investment, and major second-generation reforms delivering India’s first unprecedented streak of high growth and low inflation from 2003 to 2007.
As the momentum from Vajpayee’s reforms faded, MMS squandered the gains, by adopting fiscal profligacy, rampant corruption and unprecedented loan binge. India returned to the Congress-era pattern of low growth and high inflation. By 2013, we were broke.
First term of Modi Govt was spent in cleaning up of the fiscal and banking system mess that MMS had left behind and at the start of the 2nd term came the Covid shock.
Since the COVID shock, India has entered a second period of high growth and low inflation, similar to 2003–07 but with one key difference.
The 2003–07 expansion benefited from strong global growth, which provided India with a tailwind. The current expansion, by contrast, is unfolding amid global turmoil, trade wars, and armed conflicts.
We must stay the course and pray that this is not inturrupted by another #DecadeOfDecay
Start with the period. Check the metric definition. Compare like with like. Then look at segment performance, investment and debt. That is a more useful way to read a complex company’s results.
Showing up everytime is the most underrated trait.
Be at the right time at the right place is not a matter of chance
When people think about India's economic growth, the first images that often come to mind are skyscrapers, technology companies, expanding metro networks and major urban centres.
But India's development story extends far beyond its big cities.
The World Bank's October 2026 Poverty & Equity Brief highlights significant welfare improvements across rural and urban India, with faster poverty reduction in rural areas helping narrow the divide.
In 2023, poverty at the $4.20/day threshold stood at 19.3% in rural India compared with 8.6% in
urban India.
What makes this progress important is the role of employment and household earnings in rural
communities.
The report specifically identifies increasing participation of rural women in paid work as an
important contributor to employment growth.
Combined with stronger household consumption and expanded social transfers, these
developments have supported India's broader poverty reduction.
National development becomes truly meaningful when economic progress extends beyond
metropolitan centres.
And India's progress in rural areas is an essential part of this remarkable national transformation.
Record breaking results from Reliance; ₹3,62,268 crore in revenue and ₹62,409 crore EBITDA, beating all estimates. More importantly, they pumped ₹38,153 crore of capex into the economy while actually reducing net debt to ₹1,17,140 crore.
Amidst supply disruption, when the whole world is in turmoil & shortages, India's fuel pumps didn't stop for a single day. Reliance stepped up like a true national champion as India's energy security backbone, ensuring our fuel supply continued despite global pressure.
Every time the ecosystem doubts Mukesh Ambani, he changes the game. Doubted in 2016, doubted in 2020, and completely dominating in 2026. This isn't just a corporate balance sheet; this is an interconnected ecosystem building India's geopolitical leverage.
What he's saying is that the Army systematically disadvantages Arty officers in promotions to command positions.
But Arty officers haven't painted themselves in glory by wrecking the procurement of guns that we so urgently need, only to scuttle Bharat Forge.
Pity that he is leaving as an NCC man at heart when he should have been shaping the future of firepower of India...which needs Drones, Artillery, Rockets and Missiles at scale when we are facing determined enemies with an Airforce sans engines!
This is also a product of a very lopsided promotion system in the Army which favored only one set of individuals.
It is now coming home to roost in India's inability to respond to modern warfare.
The @PMOIndia , @IAjitDoval_IND @rajnathsingh should be worried. It is beyond the @adgpi @IAF_MCC @indiannavy to correct the situation.

India already has Vizhinjam as a deep water port, but that is not well integrated with India's Freight corridor and logistics and hence is largely used for transshipment
Vadhavan will be the massive deep water port, fully integrated with the freight network. #TheMakingOfNewIndia
Digital-first industries are evolving faster than ever. With innovation moving at this pace, governance and consumer protection cannot be afterthoughts.
Whether it is digital assets, fintech or other emerging technology sectors, consistent standards, strong compliance and clear accountability are essential to ensuring that innovation translates into sustainable growth.
BWA’s new SRB is a timely example of an industry taking proactive steps in this direction. @nsitharamanoffc @PMOIndia @BWA_Ind
These folks choked the honest, hardworking taxpayers of Delhi to reverse the laws, that allowed the farmers to engage in contract farming for food processing industry.
Now they are complaining that there is no food processing industry in Punjab. Totally deserve.
Have started sowing potatoes today.
To everyone who mocked or abused me for being a farmer, Tax free income, here’s a reality check. Today, a 50 kg bag of potatoes is selling for just ₹250.
Meanwhile, businesses sell 100 grams of fries for ₹100. Now decide for yourself who actually makes the bigger profit: the farmer or the business?
So far, I’ve already spent: ₹100 per bag just for cold storage of seed potatoes.
₹100 per bag on sowing.
That’s ₹200 already spent, with many more expenses still to come before harvest, including irrigation, fertilizers, labour, pesticides, transport, and more.
In the end, a farmer is often left with barely ₹5–10 profit on a 50 kg bag, if that.
Despite all this, farmers still don’t abuse anyone. We simply work hard, feed the nation, and hope for a fair return!
The day Punjab, India has large-scale food processing plants, farmers will finally be able to earn what they truly deserve. 😀🙏🏻

US is posturing to be preparing to throw the kitchen sink on Iran, after the midterm elections.
It may just be just posturing to push Iran into making a deal, but since the start of the war, no threat against Iran has worked.
Congress rule always mean fiscal profligacy and rampant corruption.
Now the impact is limited if it is the State Govt, but when they rule the center, it leads to runaway inflation, high interest rate, which leaves no money for capital investments (rail, roads etc) and lowers the growth rate. Classic stagflations which they called Hindu rate of growth.
GDP growth rate, exports, tax collection, corporate results, all are showing bumper growth.
But the stock market keeps falling, even as the SIP inflows are at all time high.
Only because foreigners keep selling.
Wake up, Tai!
Uttar Pradesh election is the most significant state election for BJP.
After losing majority of the LS seats to SP alliance in 2024, BJP should have worked hard to put its house in order.
But no sign of that so far.
Other than Hindus who all worship the Chhathi maiyya? Certainly not the monotheists.
Is it mandatory to be delusional to be picked by the collegium?
#WATCH | Delhi | On Uniform Civil Code, Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, Justice Sanjay Karol says, "If you want to see secularism and Article 44 in practice, you must visit Bihar, where people from different communities and religions come together to worship during Chhath Puja... When it comes to Article 44, my view, it is the need of the hour..."
