Forward Independence: former Independence-Alliance

Are you tired of being told you only have two options? Are you tired of the media covering races like the only candidates running are Democrats and Republicans? Vote Jay Reeves for State Auditor. He has a plan to better protect our tax dollars, and if he wins or even gets 8% of the vote, Forward Independence becomes a major party in Minnesota. That means voters will automatically have another option, with candidates who aren’t controlled by party bosses or special interest groups.

They aren’t endorsing each other, but they are making a commitment to work across party lines in the legislature and support good ideas, regardless of which party they come from. Agree where you can. Today, we’re announcing Minnesota Forward Together, a coalition of DFL, Republican, Independent and Forward Independence legislative candidates committed to working across party lines to solve problems for their constituents instead of trying to score political points. For years, Forward Independence has talked about doing politics differently. We believe elected officials should spend more time working together to solve problems for the people they represent. Good ideas can come from anywhere, and our elected officials should be willing to work with anyone who is serious about getting things done. Minnesota Forward Together is that philosophy in action. Tomorrow, candidates from the DFL, Republican, Independent and Forward Independence parties will stand together at the State Capitol and make a commitment to work together once they get to St. Paul. Time after time, Tom Emmer proves party loyalty is his number one priority, with allegiance to special interest donors a close second. Kelly Doss is running against Emmer as a Forward Independence candidate. Democrats haven’t been competitive in this district for 12 straight elections, but an independent candidate can build a coalition that reaches voters tired of the same two-party system. Police are tired. ICE agents are tired. And most importantly, Minnesotans are exhausted. That’s a recipe for disaster. Mike Newcome has been invited on @NewsNation three times in the past few days to make a simple case: it’s time to pause, lower the temperature, and set egos and partisan point-scoring aside for the good of our state.

As the year comes to a close, we’re grateful for everyone who believes our politics can be better, more honest, and more responsible. We all have far more in common than what divides us, and our shared pride as Minnesotans and Americans should unite us around the goal of health and happiness for all.
